Come Out Laughing Flyer

Hartford, CT.  October 28, 2010 -

For the third straight year, and the first year at the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, True Colors, Inc. is staging a side-splitting evening of live comedy to support its nationally-acclaimed charitable work on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.  Well-known comedienne Christine O'Leary, a former touring partner with Margaret Cho and one of Curve magazine's "50 funniest lesbians in America," returns on Friday, Nov. 5 at 8:00 p.m. to headline the festivities with her raucous brand of keen-eyed, audience-involving humor.

Come Out Laughing is an all ages inclusive show.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $5 for youth, with special pricing for True Colors mentors and mentees.  Tickets are available by calling True Colors at 860-232-0050.  You can also order your tickets on line via our website:   True Colors

True Colors plans to have tickets available at the door too, but buy in advance if you can, as tickets are going fast!  There is also an exclusive after-party for the Come OUT Laughing audience, whose location will be announced at the show.
NOW, more than ever we need YOU to make a difference!

In light of the well-publicized recent spate of LGBTQ youth suicides, LGBTQ-identified people need to be affirmed now more than ever, so come support the community and COME OUT AND LAUGH!

If you want to be there to support the agency that responds every time to the kid who is being bullied, this show is for YOU.

Through its advocacy, education, training, mentoring and leadership-building programs that help create safe spaces for youth and adults of all sexual orientations and gender identities, we believe True Colors Inc. has made CT a better place for all young people--not just the popular ones.

Come show your support by laughing along with us all evening at a place steeped in an American humorous tradition: the home of Mark Twain, whom many regard as the greatest wit this country has ever produced.

Come hang out with Christine!

christine o'learyYou'll also get to spend time with Christine O'Leary, fresh off her May 2010 participation in Los Angeles' celebration of the first-ever Harvey Milk Day, where she performed the role of  Anne Kronenberg in  'Dear Harvey.'  Clean, couture, a comedy multitasker, and funny to the bone, Christine O'Leary intuitively and continually interviews and assesses her audience to put together a hilarious and engaging show.

Her off-the-cuff interactions and improv are her forte, and storytelling is her crafted skill.  She uses local humor, character work and dialects in her show.  She's proud of it, too - Christine will tell you, "I don't miss a trick with the funny...in fact, I'll send you off unexpectedly socially promoted.  Just ask 'Austin the Dairy Queen!'"

To experience that talent for yourself, and to see why there is no audience that Christine can't penetrate (hey, that's hot), come down to the Mark Twain museum - where Christine has long dreamed of performing, being aware of the history of humorous storytelling that Twain embodies, and that she seeks to build on here in 2010.

True Colors and the thousands of youth who have benefited from its conferences, educational programs, training seminars, mentoring matches, and advocacy efforts (such as appearances on national media broadcasts and networks like the Tyra Banks Show, CNN and NPR) know how important it is for you to support our young people.

LGBTQIA Youth are the present as well as the future.  They need us now.  And we need YOU to come help us MAKE IT BETTER not someday but NOW!

Enjoy a night of laughter, come out laughing and and change the life of a youth in your backyard and community!
