  • On Wednesday, True Colors' ED will be hosting the UCONN Rainbow Center "Out-to-Lunch" session on LGBTQI youth from noon to 2:00 PM

 

  • Plus, Wednesday brings the FIRST CONFERENCE ORGANIZING MEETING of the season from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the UCONN Rainbow Center.

Scott Turner Schofield is a man who was a woman, a lesbian turned straight guy who is usually taken for a gay teenager. His major work includes the performance pieces Underground Transit, Debutante Balls, and Becoming a Man in 127 Easy Steps; and his book Two Truths and a Lie.  
 
Schofield grew up as KT Kilborn, a former debutante and homecoming queen coming out in the Deep South. Kilborn's social, medical, and legal transition to Scott Turner Schofield began in 2004, when he simultaneously became a full-time performance artist. Schofield has lead lectures and workshops in environments ranging from the corporate to the collegiate and has won several awards for his performance work.

LGBT youth commit suicide at much higher rates than their straight peers. Or do they? Robin McHaelen will discuss this assumption regarding LGBT youth. This interactive presentation will focus on the risks and realities of LGBT youth experiences, explore the subsets of youth at higher or lower risks of suicide and identify protective factors and strategies participants can use to help prevent or reduce self-harm.
