Good Morning!
It is nearly May and Spring is in full bloom!
This week we will begin our month of focus on Compassion, Community and Justice with special attention to the benefit coming up on May 21 for New Day for Children. If you still need tickets to this event, please contact the New Day Benefit email address newdayforchildrenbenefit@gmail.com. We are still seeking items for the silent auction. Remember, all proceeds from the auction will go directly to New Day for Children.
And, please join us after service on Sunday for an all-church potluck at Pastor Adam and Emily's home. More details on these events and everything else happening at New Life are listed below. |
All Church Potluck Lunch May 2 All are invited to a potluck lunch at Pastor Adam and Emily's home after service on Sunday, May 2nd. This is a very casual event, just a chance to share some food, games and conversation in the afternoon. Please bring a lawn chair to sit on, a dish to share (main dish, salad or dessert) and a board game or outside game to play! Pastor Adam will be grilling hamburgers, brats and hot dogs and Debbie and Mike Munns will be providing the drinks. |
Compassion, Community and Justice Month May 1-31 Throughout the month of May, New Life will be highlighting the ministries to which the church has been called, as well as ministries where members of the community are giving their time, talents and treasures to serve our community. There are nearly a dozen local agencies that are currently being served either directly by New Life or by its congregation! There will be posters on display showing all of the organizations served by members and friends of New Life. Individuals from these organizations will be given opportunity to share with the community what the organization does and how New Life has been involved. Pastor Kevin will be preaching on Compassion and Community Justice issues in each of his sermons for the month. And Pastor Adam will be bringing an Outreach message to the community as we seek to deepen our involvement serving those in need throughout San Jose and the greater world community. |
Sunday Evening Spritual Growth Group No Meetings on May 2 or May 9 The Sunday Evening Spiritual Growth Group will not be meeting on May 2 or on May 9. |
New Life Mommies
New Life has started a small group for mommies! All moms with babies and young children are invited on Friday, May 7 at 10:30am to our next gathering! We will meet at Supriya Sargunaraj's house for a time of conversation and continued planning for this new group. We will be starting a book to use as our guide, but mostly this will be a time of fellowship for moms and kids!
This small group is not just for New Life mommies. Have a friend who is home with young children? Invite her! We'd love to meet her and share some time together!
Hope to see you there!

| Auction Donation Items Needed
The FROST group is looking for silent auction items for our New Day for Children event. If you (or someone you know) has an item or professional service you would like to donate, please let Christy Wold (or any FROST member) know. Donations may be tax deductible.
We would love all sorts of thing: Gift Certificates, services (professional handyman, massage or spa certificates, etc.), vacation homes for a weekend, jewelry, gift baskets, quilts, etc etc etc.
We also have a letter that you could give to your favorite local stores and restaurants to ask for donations. We can use all the help we can get! THANK YOU for considering helping with this request. Christy Wold 408-464-6748 or christywold@yahoo.com.

Helping Willow Glen Middle School To be Scheduled We have an opportunity for a couple of folks who know how to sand and paint to help Willow Glen Middle School with a project that has no funding this year. There are a few benches that are old and weathered and in need of a sand and stain near the main quad of the school, and with budget cuts, this won't get done. Mr. Molina asked back in November if New Life might be able to help fix these up for the school. And then the rain came! So, now that we are hopefully near the end of the rains, I'd like to ask for a couple of helpers on a Saturday morning or even during the week who can do this work. A sander and all the supplies will be provided and New Life will coordinate access to power with the school. |
Host Family Needed Summer 2010 We have received a request from Jay and Ellen Haworth, Covenant Missionaries in Japan, for help finding a room to rent for a friend of their daughter, both of whom are college students in Fresno. The young man needs a place to stay for a six week internship at an investment company in San Jose this summer. He is from Hungary. He can pay for the room. |
