Good Afternoon!
We have another respite from the rain to enjoy the quickly-blooming spring. So many things are happening at New Life! We hope you can join us for an upcoming event, serve the community as an individual or as part of a group, or just share in fellowship with one another on Sunday or in a small group! Please read on for all the details.... |
Sunday Evening Bible Study April 18 All are welcome to join us at Pastor Kevin and Luann's home on Sunday evenings at 6:30pm to spend some time together in the Word and in fellowship with one another. Each week Pastor Kevin leads the group through time in the Word, discussion and prayer. |
Compassion, Community and Justice Month May 1-31 Throughout the month of May, New Life will be highlighting the ministries to which the church has been called, as well as ministries where members of the community are giving their time, talents and treasures to serve our community. There are nearly a dozen local agencies that are currently being served either directly by New Life or by its congregation! There will be posters on display showing all of the organizations served by members and friends of New Life. Individuals from these organizations will be given opportunity to share with the community what the organization does and how New Life has been involved. Pastor Kevin will be preaching on Compassion and Community Justice issues in each of his sermons for the month. And Pastor Adam will be bringing an Outreach message to the community as we seek to deepen our involvement serving those in need throughout San Jose and the greater world community. |
New Life Covenant Church Annual Meeting May 16 The New Life congregation and membership are invited to gather for our Annual Congregational Meeting at 5pm on Sunday, May 16. We will meet at Mike and Debbie Munns' home (address in the New Life directory and the Sunday bulletin). All are welcome, but only members may vote. Additionally, nominations are being accepted for a Chairman, Secretary and one Auditor. Please submit names to Pastor Kevin for the Nominating Committee. |

| | Auction Donation Items Needed
The FROST group is looking for silent auction items for our New Day for Children event. If you (or someone you know) has an item or professional service you would like to donate, please let Christy Wold (or any FROST member) know. Donations may be tax deductible.
We would love all sorts of thing: Gift Certificates, services (professional handyman, massage or spa certificates, etc.), vacation homes for a weekend, jewelry, gift baskets, quilts, etc etc etc.
We also have a letter that you could give to your favorite local stores and restaurants to ask for donations. We can use all the help we can get! THANK YOU for considering helping with this request. Christy Wold 408-464-6748 or christywold@yahoo.com.

One Opportunity for Service
Dear Saints, "All those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need" (Acts 2:45,46 NASB) This verse speaks about community. It paints a picture of the early Church living life together. We should not take it to mean that we too should sell all of our possessions. However, what it does mean to us is that we should support one another in all things, and we should humble ourselves to the point that we are willing to ask for help and let others into our life when we struggle. This also means something from an outreach standpoint, because we are beginning to minister to those who have needs and have struggles. Therefore, we must take after what the passage describes in Acts and be willing to care for those who come into our church body. Here is one way you can support a family who is in need... Amada, Craig, and their twin girls Ashley and Amber have come to our church these past two weeks. They have also come to the Hunt, and to the Good Friday service at the Bridge. Needless to say, they have made the first step in making New Life their home. Amada has told me she needs help cleaning her apartment. She has reached the point where it is almost impossible for her to unclutter her home, and has asked me to make an announcement to New Life to see if anyone would be willing to help. What I would like is for a team of 3 to 4 who could go and help one time for a couple hours. I think only a couple hours of team work cleaning is all her home needs. Week day times that would be good for her is Tuesday through Friday before her girls get home from school early afternoon. Also, perhaps during the weekend would also be good. Please email me if you are interested in helping. adammcghee@newlifesanjose.org |
Helping Willow Glen Middle School To be Scheduled
We have an opportunity for a couple of folks who know how to sand and paint to help Willow Glen Middle School with a project that has no funding this year.
There are a few benches that are old and weathered and in need of a sand and stain near the main quad of the school, and with budget cuts, this won't get done.
Mr. Molina asked in November if New Life might be able to help fix these up for the school. And then the rain came!
So, now that we are hopefully near the end of the rains, I'd like to ask for a couple of helpers on a Saturday morning who can do this work. A sander and all the supplies will be provided. And I will coordinate access to power with the school.
