This year the National Law Enforcement Exploring Conference will be held on the Georgia Tech Campus. This conference occurs every other year at a different location around the United states. At the conference Law Enforcement Explorers from throughout the nation come to compete in difference scenarios. Besides the competitions youth also get to enjoy great entertainment and other activities.

Scout Day at the Marietta Museum of History (June 19)
In 2008, the Marietta Museum of History opened a Scouting Exhibit. Since 1998, the Scouting Exhibit has grown to include a small campsite. This year there will be tye dye, friendship bracelets, neckerchief, and mouse eyes craft stations.Scout Day begins at 11 am on June 19, and will run until 3pm. Admission is free for all those in uniform. Click here for more information.
 
Centennial Gala (August 21)
Parents, leaders, and friends of Scouting, you do not want to miss the Atlanta Area Council's Centennial Gala 2010. Accident and Sickness Insurance Policy
Over the past year there have been updates to the Accident and Sickness Insurance Policy. All units going to out of council camps must provide this to the host council upon arrival. Click here... to read more.
 
When Tradition Meets Tomorrow
The Atlanta Area Council's When Tradition Meets Tomorrow capital campaign is well underway. Click here to view some recent photos of new facilities at the Bert Adams Scout Reservation in Covington.  Over $13 million has been raised to date towards the $15 million goal.  Thank you to everyone for their generous contributions!  If you would like more information on the campaign, or would like to make a gift, contact Jenna Knight at 770-956-3178.
 
Youth Protection Training
The Boy Scouts of America has adopted a number of policies aimed at eliminating opportunities for abuse within the Scouting program. These policies focus on leadership selection and training and placing barriers to abuse within the program.

World Friendship Fund Patch 
The World Friendship Fund patch is designed to increase awareness of the Scouting movement in the other countries of the world at the council level. Patches can be purchased from the Volunteer Service Center for $5 for the Silver entry level patch or $50 for the limited edition Gold sequentially numbered patch.
 
Summer Hours 
The Volunteer Service Center will be closed on July 3-5. The Scout Shop will be closed on July 5.
 
Summertime hours go into effect on May 31 and will continue through August 9. Summer hours are Monday through Friday, 9am till 6pm, and Saturday 10am till 4pm.
Camp
Bert Adams and Woodruff
In order to conduct summer resident camps, Bert Adams and Woodruff are closed to unit camping until August 13.
 
Training
Trainer's Edge 
This new course will provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer with a focus on the participant, while raising the level of skill a trainer brings to training courses. This course will "train the trainer" on behaviors and resources while offering hands on experience in methods and media.

UTVS 2.0
Watch for implementation of UVTS 2.0 within the next 4 - 6 Watch for implementation of UVTS 2.0 within the next 4-6 weeks. Enhancements will include:
  • Unit Commissioners will be able to add reports on any unit within their district or council
  • Administrative Commissioners will be able to add reports on any unit within their district or council
  • Commissioners will be able to view all comments entered from any visit report within their district or council.
  • Commissioners will be able to view additional data about units (e.g., charter date, renewal status, expiration date, unit tenure)
  • Filter and export capabilities will be expanded.
A UVTS national hotline exclusively for commissioner support has been established. The phone number is 972-672-4389. Service desk team members will be monitoring the phone Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM.

Cub Scout Family Camp (June 19-20)
We invite all Cub Scouts and their families to come unplug with us at Bert Adams Scout Reservation on June 19-20, 2010 for Cub Family Camping.  Activities to include BB's & Archery, Swimming, Campfire, and lots more fun.  Come celebrate Father's Day with us.  To register go to: www.atlantabsa.org and click on the event on the Calendar.  For more information email Cristi Wells or David Abercrombie.
 
Cub Family Camp at Woodruff (July 10-11)
Sign up now!!Cub Family Camping is for all Cub Scouts and their families to experience fun and adventure in the great outdoors as well as get a taste for Boy Scout resident camping and Go for the Gold!
Cub scouts will get to experience sleeping in 2-man cabin tents with cots, just like the older Scouts! On Saturday evening, the families will enjoy a camp style dinner!
Activities will be but are not limited to:Swimming, BB's, Archery, Campfire, Skits & songs Interfaith Worship, And lot's of great FUN!

Boy Scouts Winter 2010 - Banner 2 
Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites
Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites has joined efforts with the Boy Scouts of America to help Scouts continue to accomplish great things in its 100th Anniversary celebration. The State Parks can help get Scouts started and on their way to a great service project! The parks offer a variety of projects - from trail maintenance to invasive plant removal to general cleanups and river cleanups and they need Scouting's help! 2010 Historical Merit Badge
For the 100th Anniversary celebration four vintage merit badges are being released for the Centennial Year only, giving Boy Scouts the hands-on opportunity to experience the exciting past of the BSA. Read more...
