Kathy Jex
2011-2012
AdClub President

Greetings!

Don't find fault, find a remedy.

Henry Ford

Happy New Year! Fiscal, that is. And the beginning of my year as President of the Advertising Club of Toledo. I am so happy to have the opportunity to give back to the Club that has given so much to me over the years. I've made lifelong friends, learned a lot, shared belly laughs and tears, and enjoyed working with the most creative and innovative leaders of the advertising industry in our region.

The first AdClub meeting I ever attended was way back in the late 70's, before Macs were invented, and the good-old-boy network was in full swing at the bar in the Belvedere Room, guzzling martinis and manhattans before and during the meeting. The Club has changed a lot since then, and so has our industry, with technology to help us work faster, more efficiently and increasingly more detached personally from clients, associates and providers.

As we look to the next hundred years of the AdClub, it's time to look at the future of the Club itself and our place in the local and regional business picture. We're going to examine our brand and do some research and look for ways to make the Advertising Club of Toledo more relevant and responsive to our members' needs and wants today. Instead of complaining about things that aren't working anymore, we're looking for new solutions and new ideas. We may be calling on you to give your opinions, your thoughts and your help in transforming the AdClub back into the premiere professional organization for marketing and advertising professionals in our region.

One thing I know that hasn't changed and never will is the fact that you only get out of the Club what you put into it. Getting involved, whether it's working on a committee or helping with an event, is the best way to connect with other professionals and make the most of your membership. The networking opportunities and personal rewards are unparalleled. They have helped me build and maintain my business over the years, and I know the AdClub can do the same for you no matter what your professional status.

I look forward to getting to know you and to hear what you have to say, so please feel free to contact me with your concerns or ideas. Working together, we will all succeed.

Kathy Jex

2011-2012 AdClub President

She has been self-employed for the past 15 years at In-house Communications, where she mainly writes copy for a variety of clients, from ad agencies to small business owners.

Volunteering her time has always been a priority for Kathy who currently serves as an Associate Board Member on Boyer/Riverfront, Inc., assists with publicity for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Northwest Ohio to promote their annual Walk for the Cure, and has been actively involved with the International Boxing Club for the past year. In June 2010, Patrick left the corporate world, after stints at Libbey, Calphalon, Microsoft and The University of Toledo, to pursuit his passion: bringing focus, control, clarity and confidence to small business marketing. Patrick also is the Publisher of Abec's Small Business Review, a freely-distributed monthly publication that supports local business.

Patrick also serves on the board of the northwest Ohio Chapter of the American Cancer Society and Hannah's Socks. Our Newest Past President

Thank you Michael Seay!
Michael PP

The AdClub is grateful to Michael Seay for his great leadership during our 2010-2011 membership year.  Michael has an outstanding way of making things happen.  He not only has the ideas, but he makes them come to life. Michael and Buckeye TeleSystem strongly believe in our Club, serving as the presenting sponsor of our Monthly Luncheon Program Series and AdWORKS for the past 2 years.

In addition, he created the "Our Favorite Things" luncheon with Westfield Franklin Park and Levis Commons, brought back the LIVE ADDY show, and made Mae Jo do things she normally would not do!  I can't wait to see what he plans for the 2012 ADDYs!!!!

The club would not be successful without people like Michael. Come on club members...do your part, get active!

Thanks,

Patty

President's Award Winners

President's Awards

Presented by:  Michael Seay at June 15 Program

It is my pleasure to present the 2010 - 2011 President's Award to incoming 1st Vice President, Patrick Giammarco. Patrick has been amazing to work with, offering guidance, creative solutions, a positive attitude and leadership to tackle the challenges faced by our club. He was tasked this year with leading the efforts of a newly formed Member Services committee, to ensure every member realizes a true value in their membership. Currently, Patrick is guiding a team of us through the rebranding of our club using his Duct Tape Marketing strategy. All of these attributes are great, but most of all he is just a damn nice guy. Join me in thanking and congratulating Patrick.

Patrick PA

Since I'm known for surprises, it shouldn't be a shocker that I have a second President's Award to give. For the last 8 years our club has had some of the best events, each offering a fun & social experience to those who attend. The man behind these events has served just as long as our Social Chair, developing new & fun opportunities that each bring our club closer together and heighten each member's experience.  For his many years of dedication, we thank and applaud the efforts of Greg Reece. Fittingly, with the first ever Beer Stein President's Award.

Greg Reece
