Greetings!
|
| | Michael Seay 2010-2011 AdClub President |
To help all of our members this month, I've checked with every venue, organization and promoter in the area and can verify that there is absolutely nothing going on in the tri-state area in May. This should hopefully make it very easy for you to commit the following two events on your calendars.
First, Dr. Gene Poor will be presenting at our May 18th luncheon at The Toledo Club. His topic is Entrepreneurship in a Crazy Economy and it is always a great privilege to tap into his knowledge & expertise. Member cost is the usual $20 and we look forward to seeing everyone in attendance.
The second May opportunity is AdBID, the hybrid casino night/silent auction/party fundraiser will take place throughout Toledo Country Club on Friday, May 20th. This event is going to be an amazing time, featuring live music from Ad Astra, great silent auction items including those valued media packages, tons of delicious food and casino tables that give you the chance to win some great prizes! It will be the perfect opportunity for an evening out with friends or co-workers. To reserve your tickets, available for $35 each or 10 for $300, contact Patty by e-mail or call 419-866-4199.
I am very pleased to announce that this year your AdClub has partnered with Destination Toledo to present the 3rd Annual Tim Beckman Celebrity Golf Classic! This 4-person scramble will take place on Friday, June 10th at Maumee Bay State Park Golf Course. Come enjoy the day and network with other AdClub & Destination Toledo members for $480 a foursome/$120 a golfer. Coach Beckman will be on hand for this fun day filled with golf, food & drinks and some great prizes. Space is limited and this will sell out. To secure your spot contact Gretchen Mikolajczak, Director of Membership at Destination Toledo at 419-321-5043 and be sure to let her know you're an AdClub member!
Finally I would like to extend sincere congratulations to the 6 companies that won top Gold & Silver honors at the Fifth District ADDY Awards. Let's cheer them on and wish them all luck as the winners will be announced at the National ADDY Competition on June 4th
in San Diego.
Bravo!
Michael

Entrepreneurship in a Crazy Economy
"Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won't, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can't."
So you probably have a career - which is clearly your "Plan A." But what if that doesn't exactly go as planned? Maybe entrepreneurship is just what you need to cover all your bases. Entrepreneurship is a mindset or a way of thinking that is opportunity-focused, innovative, and growth oriented. Entrepreneurs recognize opportunity, gather the resources required, and drive the experience to completion. Most people will say it can't be done. An entrepreneur will say, "I'll find a way!" Come to think about it -that's not a bad attitude to have even if "Plan A" works as planned!
Dr. Gene Poor is the first Scott Hamilton Endowed Professor of Entrepreneurship in The College of Business at Bowling Green State University and Director of the Entrepreneur Program. He also serves as Professor Emeritus in the College of Technology where he conceived and launched the Visual Communication Program. In addition to his academic roles, Poor is also the founder of LifeFormations-an innovative animatronic company that designs and builds life-like characters for theme parks, visitor centers, museums and retail establishments. Dr. Poor has received numerous awards and citations including the Student Alumni Association Master Teacher (considered the highest honor given to the faculty at BGSU), Kent State University Distinguished Alumni Award, and the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
11:30 networking 11:45 buffet luncheon
12:00 announcements and presentation
Cost: $20/member $25/non-member $15/student Reservations are required! Please call 419.866.4199 or email director@adclubtoledo.org by Monday, May 16 2010-2011 PROGRAM SERIES SPONSOR:

As the Advertising Club of Toledo's primary fundraiser, AdBID proceeds benefit both our nonprofit partner and AdClub's programs and services, with an exciting night out! For the 2nd year in a row we will be partnering with the local organization BeInstrumental, which provides music education and musical instruments to children and schools in our community. In addition to great silent auction items there will be "fun money" casino tables, live music by Ad Astra, great food, and great company with a Hollywood Style theme.
We need your help to make this event a great success! Become a sponsor or donate an item for the silent auction. This is your opportunity to promote your business and show your support of AdClub and BeInstrumental.
But most of all, we want to see you there!
Three ways to help make us all winners ...
1. Donate items or services.
Promote your business with a donation of products or services. Or donate an item under your company's name. You'll receive:
- Recognition throughout the evening
- Signage at the event
- Mention on our website and monthly newsletter, received by over 700 people in the advertising community
- Get one free event ticket for every $500 in value donated (up to four tickets)
2. Attend the auction!
Mark your calendar, bring your friends, and get ready for a great time! Tickets are only $35 each or 10 for $300 - that's a savings of $50!
3. Be a Hollywood Star!
We have a variety of sponsorship opportunities available:
- Sponsor a casino table and get one-on-one contact by dealing a few hands
- Be the hit of the party! Sponsor the bar and buy a round of drinks for 50 people!
- You can also discuss your latest business offerings over a cup of coffee when you sponsor the after-dinner coffee bar!
- Click on sponsorship opportunities to see all the details.
Thank you in advance for supporting AdBID 2011!

AdClub Goes Mobile
The Advertising Club of Toledo will start to broadcast its event schedule via text messages to users who opt-in for the service. Users can get reminders to all club events such as monthly speaker series, AdClub social events and other programs about twice a month. 3rd Screen Gurus, a regional mobile messaging provider, is working with the membership committee to deploy the program. "We realize our membership is a busy group of professionals. Sending them a text reminder to our great events should be a win-win situation for our club", says Craig Hagenbuch, membership chair for ACT. Mobile messaging via the SMS "text" channel has grown dramatically in recent years. Last year 1.56 trillion texts were sent in America. To start receiving text reminders from your AdClub, simply text ACT to 55678. |
