Greetings!
Thank you to all of you who could join us for a great end to April at AdBID! It was a gorgeous night at the Toledo Country Club to listen to the acoustic music while enjoying the warm weather outside or cheer on the Guitar Hero's inside while playing some casino games. A huge Thank You to our sponsors for the evening The Blade Battle of the Bands and AccuShred. And to Off Contact Productions, Laura Carpenter Design, Bottomline Ink, and Mail Works for their contributions! I'd also like to thank all of our donors for great auction items. We had a successful night that will continue to support the efforts of the AdClub including contributing to our scholarship fund and helping us bring in great speakers. We are also very proud to give back to our community by partnering with BeInstrumental for the night! With the funds raised from AdBID they will be able to continue their mission of supporting local music education. Thank you all again for your support. Read more ...

In-House Communications
by: Kathy Jex
People often ask me, "Just what do you do anyway?" and I usually reply with a smile that my unofficial company slogan is "Almost Anything For A Buck"! That's my tongue-in-cheek description of my business since I am a freelancer and benefit from a long list of professional experiences. In-House Communications is the name of my business, reflecting not only the location of my office but the fact that I sometimes subcontract for agencies. In my long career, I have worked as a designer and script writer in a creative shop and then as the Marketing and Advertising Coordinator at a major hospital. Since going out on my own, I have had the pleasure of working on a variety of things for a variety of clients, so it's not always easy to give a simple answer to the question of what I do. AdBID 2010
Thanks to everyone that helped make this event a success!
written by: Sara Shiels
It was a beautiful night to support the community! Friday, April 30 was AdBID at the Toledo Country Club benefiting the Advertising Club of Toledo and BeInstrumental. The perfect weather only heightened the experience at such a beautiful venue; guests spent time on the patio dining on gourmet sliders and enjoying the acoustic stylings of Ad Astra, members of Resonant Soul. Inside the scene was a little less laid back. There was fierce bidding on great silent auction items, gaming chips being lost and won at the casino tables and people rockin' out in the Guitar Hero contest. Congratulations to our Guitar Hero of the night, Becca Huffman. Becca ousted the cutthroat competition with an unreachable high score and took home half of the pot!
With over 100 people in attendance, AdClub was able to raise over $10,000 with the silent auction. These funds will allow continued support of the AdClub Scholarship fund as well as programs throughout the year. The AdClub is also proud to support BeInstrumental with a portion of the proceeds of the night. $2,300 will be given to BeInstrumental to support their efforts in furthering music education in our community. Thank You to our sponsors for the evening The Blade Battle of the Bands and AccuShred. And to Off Contact Productions, Laura Carpenter Design, Bottomline Ink, and Mail Works for their contributions and to all of our donors for great auction items. We couldn't do it without your support!

at Madhouse written by: Erin Hirschfeld On Thursday, April 22, a golden ticket was offered to AdClub of Toledo members and guests to tour the studio of Madhouse and to meet the award-winning design team. AdTINI guests were offered a "MadTINI" upon entering and Bill Sattler and his crew graciously lead tours through the stunning, second floor, loft-style studio. Michael Seay of Buckeye TeleSystem generously provided delicious HoneyBaked party trays for 40 peeps who enjoyed the creative verve and ambiance of Madhouse. Mad thanks goes out to Madhouse and to Buckeye TeleSystem for the fabulous evening! Everyone loves show n' tell. If your firm is interested in hosting an AdTINI, please contact Patty Schoepf at 419.866.4199 or email director@adclubtoledo.org. |

BeInstrumental, a local non-profit organization, has a clear mission: music education. That was the main message that Laura Carpenter, creator for the group's current face-lift, wanted to instill in the new identity. "I wanted the logo to be more about educating young minds, rather than merely instrument donation" says Laura. The result is a logo that is unique and truly memorable.
"As a non profit organization, we are constantly looking for ways to set ourselves apart from the pack and to spread our word to our community," says Jeff Green from BeInstrumental. "The professionals from the Need a Hand, Lend a Hand program took our needs into account, and developed a fresh, new branding program for our organization, including a new logo, specific promotional material and a new website. I am truly excited to hand out my new redesigned business cards.
The launch of our new identity allows BeInstrumental to focus on what is important to us: providing musical education assistance to aspiring artists. BeInstrumental wants to thank the Advertising Club of Toledo and offer a special thank you to Laura Carpenter, whose graphic design skills are top-notch."
BeInstrumental, a fairly new organization, paired up with ACT for the annual fund-raising event, AdBid, this year and realized they would greatly benefit from utilizing AdClub's pool of talented members to complete a redesign for their non-profit. This was Need a Hand, Lend a Hand's first success story and will hopefully be one of many in the years to come.
Laura Carpenter, a Toledo area graphic designer can be contacted for freelance opportunities at: 419-464-8051 or at: laucarp@gmail.com. For samples of her work visit: www.lauracarpenterdesign.com.
If you are interested in volunteering to assist an organization, please submit the volunteer form and we'll match you up with the appropriate contact person. It's simple, appreciated and all for the betterment of the organization you're helping, the AdClub, and you. So come on, lend a hand!
