How do we foster unity and community in the face of cultural and spiritual differences? For younger generations, how do we set aside the differences of past generations and foster sisterhood and brotherhood grounded in the Sunnah?

In Islam, marriage is considered half our faith. Regardless of whether you are married or looking to be married, come learn about the keys to making a successful married life, using the Sunnah as our guide. What are some of the most common issues faced by couples? How can these issues be mitigated using wisdom and true Islamic knowledge?
Baby-sitting provided. Lunch is $5. Concludes at 4PM.
8.15 PM -The Myth of Parental Obedience: Separating Fact from Tradition
Parental obedience is a pillar of our faith but this is often abused in different cultural traditions, making life very challenging for children. Come learn what traditional Islamic scholars have taught us about parental obligations. Parents, do you know what rights your children have upon you? How can we use the Sunnah to create a household that is full of respect, compassion and love?.
About the Speaker
Shaykh Faraz Rabbani is a scholar of Islamic sciences. After graduating from the University of Toronto, he studied Islamic Rulings, Theology, and other subjects in Damascus. He has traveled the world in his quest for knowledge. He also maintains an active presence online and has been on the leading edge of bringing Islam to a new audience via the Internet.
He also runs a blog, Seeker's Digest, and has a regular column in Islamic Magazine. He has also contributed to BBC and is a regular speaker at ISNA and other major Islamic events and conferences. He now teaches and lives in Toronto.
