7.45 PM - Muhammad(s) the Enduring Friend 

How did the Prophet(s) interact with his friends? What made him so beloved by his own friends? What qualities did he seek in companions? How can we become better friends to each other? 

 

 

Saturday, April 23 at Maryam Islamic Center

11.30 AM - A Paragon of Virtue: Muhammad(s) the Family Man (workshop)

Besides being the Prophet of God, Muhammad (s) was also a father, a husband, a nephew and an uncle. How did he interact with his family? How did he deal with stress and tension? What examples can we take from his life to include in our own? 

 

Baby-sitting provided.  Lunch is $5.  Concludes at 4PM.

 

7:45 PM -If You Love God: Why We Love Muhammad(s)

All Muslims claim to love Muhammad (s) but how should this love manifest itself in our daily lives? Why is it important to love him and what is the proper manner of showing this love? How should we react when ignorant people speak about him?  

 

About the Speaker 

Shaykh Alauddin El-Bakri began his study of Islam at a young age in North Africa and continued his education in Islamic Sciences in Jordan, learning from some of the most preeminent teachers in the Muslim world.  He has served the Muslim community in the United States in numerous capacities, serving as the Imam at several Islamic Centers and establishing full-time and weekend Islamic schools.

 

Shaykh El-Bakri served as a founding board member of IMAN (Inner City Muslim Action Network) in Chicago, book editor for IQRA and an advisory board member for many Islamic organizations.  Having been trained in both Islamic sciences and secular education, Shaykh El-Bakri has the ability to appeal to a wide array of audiences.  His main focus is in helping Muslims develop a deep understanding of the self, life and faith.  He currently serves as Khateeb at Saratoga Masjid in the Bay Area and also teaches for the Taaleef Collective.
