Ocean City Pops Presents
"Only Make Believe" Ocean City, NJ - The Ocean City Pops Orchestra, William Scheible, Artistic Director, presents "Only Make Believe" on Wednesday, August 11th at 8 pm. Soprano Liz Filios and Baritone John Jarboe will be featured in selections from many musicals including Show Boat, The Secret Garden, Sweet Charity, and Candide. The concert takes place at the POPS' historic performance venue, The Music Pier, located at Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk.

Liz Filios has performed at The Arden Theatre, The Wilma Theatre, Walnut Street Theatre, The Joyce Soho Theater, and at Bang On A Can Contemporary Music Festival in New York. Recently she has sung leading roles at The Devon Theater in Philadelphia and The Broadway Theater of Pitman, NJ.Liz Filios |
A graduate of the Musical Theatre program at the University of Michigan, Liz has also been fortunate to perform with the Cape Town Opera Company in South Africa, the International Opera Theatre in Italy and most recently as a cabaret singer for Celebrity Cruise Lines in Europe.
In Philadelphia John Jarboe has performed as the Baker in The Selkie Project, Bernard in Certain Old Clothes at Nice People Theatre Company, Simon in Passing By,John Jarboe. | and Jason in the PGLTF production of BARE: The Pop Opera. At The Philadelphia Fringe Festival in 2009 John performed the solo piece Inside Julia Child and in the ensemble in Camera Blanca. Recently he appeared in both Showboat and The Wizard of Oz at The Media Theater. In 2009 he appeared in London in a reading of The Old 100th at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Previous professional credits include The Michigan Shakespeare Festival as Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Rosencrantz in Hamlet.

Friends POPS Luncheon
The annual Pops Luncheon will be held Thursday, August 19, 2010 - 12 Noon at Greate Bay Country Club "Magical Melodies" Back by popular demand, tenor Cody Austin, a former resident artist of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, will entertain at the 21st Annual Summer Luncheon sponsored by the Friends of the Ocean CityCody Austin
 | Pops.
Cody, who has been described as "one of the most promising artists of his age," has performed both classical and contemporary music with orchestras in New York City, Philadelphia, and Ocean City. He has been featured in engagements with the New Jersey Master Chorale, the Ambler Symphony, Jupiter Symphony of New York, the Philly Pops, and, of course, the Ocean City Pops Orchestra.
Judy Perkins, Friends Trustee / Recording Secretary, selling Luncheon Tickets at a recent Pops Concert. | Tickets to the luncheon will be sold prior to and during intermissions at Ocean City Pops concerts on the Music Pier until Wednesday, August 11.
Participants will have the opportunity to win numerous door prizes, gift baskets, silent auction items, and a 50/50 donated by many merchants in Ocean City and off shore.
Tickets are $40 and include valet parking.
