Mountain Brook Elementary's 80th Anniversary Celebration MAY 20TH!
|
Mountain Brook Elementary celebrates its 80th year! All graduates are invited to a special event to celebrate MBE's birthday. In 1979, the school celebrated its 50th year with a reunion celebration that involved the entire school! Improvements and additions have continued over the years as enrollment at MBE has steadily climbed. The last construction project in 2006 included eight new classrooms, a special education suite and a renovated auditorium. MBE currently has enrollment of more than 582 students in grades kindergarten through sixth.
MBE would like to invite all graduates of the school to come for an open house on Thursday, May 20th from 3:15 until 4:15 to celebrate its 80th year.
Join fellow alumni to tour the school and note how much we have grown as well as how much we have stayed the same through the years. Escorts will be available to guide graduates on a tour and refreshments will be provided. Parking around the school will be available.
For more information or to RSVP for the event, please contact Michelle Latimer at 870-3976 or michellelatimer@mac.com.

Local HERO! Thanks Coach Ab!
|
"Coach Mike Abercrombie ("Coach Ab"), head track coach at MB Jr. High, was driving on Overbrook Road near the junior high school when he saw another driver in distress. This driver was having a heart attack while driving his vehicle! Coach Ab jumped out of his truck, somehow stopped the man's car, then performed CPR on the man. Construction workers working nearby came to help and were amazed at Coach Ab's ability to take charge of the situation. The driver, Mr. Herman Willis, is alive and in the hospital as a result of Coach Ab's efforts. Coach Ab's amazing courage saved Mr. Willis and probably saved others from injury.
Thank you Coach Ab!

FREE information calls via GOOGLE
|
Leave it to Google to come up with something like this! Here's a number worth
putting in your cell phone and your home phone speed dial:
1-800-goog411
, which is: 1-800-466-4411
This is an awesome service from
Google, and it's FREE; great when you are on the road. Don't waste your
money on information calls and don't waste your time manually punching
in the number.
The voice at the other end says, "City & State?" I say, "
Spokane Washington." He says, "Business, Name or Type of
Service?" I say, "Lilac Lanes" He says, "Connecting," and
Lilac Bowling Lanes answers the phone.
How great is that? This
is nationwide and Google provides the service absolutely free! No
'information' charge and no 'long distance' charge.
