Join Kevin Barnard on Saturday, February 25th from 1-3:30p.m., as he leads a deep exploration of the Yin Yoga practice! This workshop will begin with a short, interactive discussion around the foundations and principles of yin yoga. From there we will move into a fun, yet challenging sequence of yin yoga postures designed to calm, open and release some of our most deeply held and difficult to access parts of our physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues (which we are calling the yang tissues). Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. A combination of weight loss coaching, group support, guided exercise and meditation, this six-week program offers you the chance to balance and calm your relationship with food, exercise, and overall wellbeing. Beginning  with a two week cleansing diet supported by protein, veggies, limited fruits, supplements, and lots of water, participants "heal" the metabolism and balance the body and mind. Over the course of the program, foods like grains and dairy are thoughtfully and gradually added back to the diet transforming how participants nourish and care for their bodies. Each class opens with a 40 minute circuit training class, followed by a group discussion in a warm and supportive environment, and concludes with a deep meditation and affirmation. This six-week program is led by Integrative Weight Loss Coach, Julie Wallace and Personal Fitness Trainer, Becky Zike. Learn how the mind plays a role in your wellbeing. Change the way you think about weight loss, body image, and your overall approach to living. Come Join Kara and Kevin for a Yoga ROCKS Workshop!!! This clas s will incorporate strong music and a strong practice. Let the music move YOU!!! We have found that mixing a challenging, hot vinyasa practice with high-energy, fun and lively music enables students to "let go" more readily, work more easily in their practice (vs working harder), stretch more deeply and wring out their body and mind... all while having a good time and not quite even realizing they were "working" at all. Our workshop will be an evolution over the course of 2.5 hours -- a smooth, relaxing opening followed by a slow ramp-up to a more challenging vinyasa flow sequence, and easing down into a long, supported savasana. This is an ALL LEVELS workshop and we encourage you to join us no matter what your level of experience, body type or flexibility.
