...an evolution in sport. | Greetings!
Jennifer Graduates from FWE e-series |
Returning to work when Audrey was only three months old was interesting to say the least. Thank you to Jump! families for your flexiblity as I figure out exactly what back to work looks like.
Recently at the FWE e-series we were asked the "Hit by a bus tomorrow" question. Thanks to the last six months I was able to answer with complete confidence. The strong team at Jump! keeps things running smoothly
even when I'm not here.
Jennifer with Jump!'s Lindsay Little at FWE graduation |
Speaking of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs e-series, our graduation was last week. It has been a wonderful experience learning from some great Vancouver business leaders and the fabulous women that were my classmates. For many reasons the number of mothers with young children starting or growing entrepreneurial ventures seems to continue to rise. Its great to see support and opportunities for this community through programs like the FWE e-series and mentor program or Savvy Mom's Mom Entrepreneur of the Year Award (see below).
Certainly the e-series experience has given me lots of food for thought about how we can help more children become physically literate.
When asked for a bold goal for Jump! I, somewhat grandiosly but at the same time completely seriously, said that Jump! will become the epicentre for childhood physical literacy in Canada. Recently Active Healthy Kids Canada 2010 Report Card gave child and youth physical activity in Canada an 'F', again. As a country, we won't change the outcome unless we change our approach. I really see Jump! as an evolution in childhood fitness and want to reach as many children as possible.
Because the kids aren't the only ones who need a little help being active we've just launched a partnership with Precision Athletics to make it easier for Jump! moms to get fit - more details below. We've also got some more details on Summer Camps and some key dates for Summer Date Nights and Fall Registration. Please give the newsletter a quick read.

Jump! Partners with Precision Athletics
Are You Feeling Fit For An Active Summer?
As we always say, one of the most important parts of raising an active child is to be a good role model. But, when is there time for moms to get a work out? It is a common theme in the Parent's Lounge these days, although we know chasing the little ones through the ball pit can feel like quite the work out at times!
To maximize your time we've partnered up with Precision Athletics right across the street at 858 Beatty St. this summer. You can drop your child off for a morning of Summer Camp (more details on Summer Camp below), and head over to Precision Athletics for a ½ hour session with a personal trainer followed by a ½ hour of cardio. Enjoy a long uninterrupted shower, and you still have time for a coffee before heading across the street for pick up.
Get more details or book online or by calling 604-568-9690.
Congratulations to Dana who won a Precision/Jump! session for her, her little one, a friend and their little one in our May Contest. Like she says it can be a struggle fitting exercise into your routine so we're happy that both Dana and her little one will be getting some active time!
Note: Jump!'s Jennifer Hood went for a session with Precision's Craig Boyd recently and came back realizing it was going to take a few more sessions before her post-partum self was going to be keeping up with her active family this summer! |

Jump! Gymnastics' carefully designed curriculum is intended to give children the tools they need to be successfully active for their whole lives, regardless of what sports interest them as they grow.
