St. A's Student Council

~ ~ Leading the Way ~ ~

St. Anastasia Catholic School is proud to have a Student Council beginning its fourth year in existence at our school. The mission of the Student Council is to unite students, faculty and staff in an atmosphere of school spirit and pride by:

  • respectfully representing the student body;
  • maintaining and reinforcing the bond between students, faculty and staff;
  • increasing student morale and school spirit;
  • serving as liaison between administration and students;
  • fostering communication and promoting a positive attitude between faculty and students; and
  • encouraging community service through example.

Last year, the Student Council was responsible for working with administration on a special Veteran's Day ceremony. Another important project the Student Council assisted with last year was the Thanksgiving Food Drive. They helped promote the drive and organized the hundreds of food items donated by our St. A's families. They helped with the collection for the Catholic Schools Week community service projects and coordinated a Jog-a-Thon skit for a pep rally. They hosted a car wash for teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week, too.

This year, the Student Council plans to be even more involved with several activities in the works including:

  • Running (organizing, publicizing, decorating and working at) the school dances,
  • Christmas book drive for Hope Rural School,
  • Teacher appreciation week activities,
  • Care and upkeep of the teacher garden, and
  • Run for the Son 5K booth and assistance.

Surprise! Happy 50th Birthday to Father George!
Father George was surprised by the whole community this past Saturday with a huge 50th Birthday Celebration! He was serenaded by the Sisters of Mercy from Rome (Georgia), provided a video of his "life" and the whole Parish Center was packed with friends and family who were treated to a delicious buffet of Lebanese, Italian, American and Mexican food! The 4 p.m. mass was so packed that he must have thought it was Christmas! Happy Birthday Father George!
