Run for the Son logoThank you to the sponsors, participants and volunteers who made the 3rd Annual Run for the Son 5K a success! We had 99 registered runners/walkers and 86 completed the race. Congratulations to John Wellborn of Fort Pierce who came in 1st place overall in 20:56! Former St. A's parent, Craig Meyers, won the Masters Male division in 23:41. Tara McFarlane, of Fort Pierce, won the Women's Division (and came in 2nd place overall) in 21:27. Mrs. Richmond's sister, Kathy Eschler, won the Masters Women's Title by finishing the 3.1-mile race in 23:45. Many of our parents and students competed and everyone did great! Several children also participated in the Kids Fun Run and other activities like the sack-race and three-legged race, too! Before the race, Father Mark joined the participants and blessed them before they left. The prizes for the divisions included a prayer card made by our fourth- and fifth-graders of St. Christopher, the patron saint of athletes, which included a Runner's Prayer on the back. Each card was unique and special.

Thank you to our sponsors! They were: Gulfstream Urology, Dr. Adam J. Ball; East Coast Lumber and Supply; Dr. Robert Tobar; Dr. Richard Pena-Ariet; Dr. Diane Pugh; Fort Pierce Orthopaedics; Law Offices of Kevin Hendrickson; A1A Printing; Everglades Farm Equipment; Natalie's Orchid Island Juice Company; Karina Priest, LMHC; St. Anastasia PTO; and St. Anastasia Advisory Council.

Thank you to our volunteers and committee members who helped organize, run, set up and clean up the event. We couldn't have done it without you! THANK YOU!

Operation Rice Bowls and Lent
Palm Sunday - Your Attitude Must Be Christ's
We hear in sacred scripture this weekend how Christ redeemed us not by a one-time small gift, but by becoming one of us and giving His whole self even unto death on a Cross. Through our support of Operation Rice Bowl, Catholic Relief Services gives more than short term assistance to poor countries; it establishes long term, person-focused, sustainable programs that provide better opportunities for each individual, and it remains in communities to help these efforts succeed.
One Day to Give

As always, we appreciate your continued generosity and support!

Red Cross Babysitting Class Information

One of our St. A's parents, Mrs. Jen Richmond, recently spoke with a representative at the Red Cross regarding a program called "Babysitting Boot Camp." It is a 2-day class from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. held at their facility. The class is offered for young people 11-15 (boys are welcome, also). On the first day they go over basic childcare (feeding, bathing, changing, diapers, etc), how to be a responsible sitter, safety and such topics. On the second day, they go through the infant/child CPR program and receive their certificates at the end of the day. Lunch is provided. The cost is $130 for the 2 days.

If any parent is interested in having their child attend this training, the next session is being held either in Port St. Lucie or Vero Beach on June 28 & 29. They need a minimum of 6 attendees to go forward with a class. However, if there are at least 8 attendees, Red Cross can send a trainer to a location of our choice (on campus or other).

If anyone is interested in attending this class at a location of our choice, please contact Mrs. Jen Richmond at (772) 473-1155 or jenmr729@bellsouth.net.
