It's Catholic Schools Week at
St. Anastasia Catholic School!

CSW 2011 LogoThank you to everyone who has helped make our 2011 Catholic Schools Week a huge success! And we still have two days to go! The theme this year, "A+ for America," which celebrates the fact that Catholic Schools are an added value for our nation.

On Monday, we held a successful Open House and PTO presented the staff and faculty with a wonderful breakfast buffet. We also held a tour for local government officials and priests where we showed off our campus, as well as our band and music programs. On Wednesday, we celebrated Community Service. Five representatives from local non-profit organizations came to campus to talk to the students and collect the donated items from the students. It was an overwhelming response and we thank you for your continued generosity! Pictured below, Mrs. Thoennissen and Mrs. Brennan display some of the donated items. They, along with Ms. Fitzgerald, co-chaired the events for the day; Mrs. Brennan poses with Ms. Shawn Hart of the Humane Society in front of some of the donated items. Jog-A-Thon News

The LAST Turn In Day is Thursday, February 3!

The St. Anastasia Catholic School Jog-A-Thon is this Friday, Feb. 4th. This event is a very important fundraiser for the school and we need every student's participation in order for us to succeed. Our school goal is $20,000 and we can reach that goal if each student turns in at least $40 in pledges.

The Jog-A-Thon is a fun event that involves students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Each student obtains pledges, either by lap or as a single pledge, and on the day of the event, runs laps around a track. The laps are counted and students are eligible to win prizes based on how many laps they run. Pledges are then tallied and mailed to the sponsors for payment.

The deadline to turn in pledges is 9 a.m. on Thursday, February 3.

Remember: In order to participate in the Jog-A-Thon, students must turn in at least $10 in pledges.

Students should wear P.E. clothes (or Catholic Schools Week t-shirts) and tennis shoes on the day of the event. The students really enjoy this event, so we encourage you to involve them in obtaining pledges from family members and friends! We would also like to invite you to join us for the Jog-a-Thon - bring a lawn chair and watch the festivities! Or, if you need volunteer hours, this is a great opportunity to help! Don't forget that this day (Friday, Feb. 4) is a noon dismissal, too. Thank you ahead of time for your continued support and generosity! If you have any questions, please contact me at ltrabulsy@stanna.org or 461-2232.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • 2-4 more people to count laps at the JCHS track
  • 2-4 more people to help with clean up

The 2nd Annual Kid's Art Fair is Coming!

Last year's Art Fair was such a huge success we're making it an annual event! This year's Art Fair will be held on Thursday, March 3rd.Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade have been working hard on their artwork for the Fair during their Art classes with Ms. McCadden.  Each student has the opportunity to see their artwork on display in a "Kid's Art Fairs" frame during the event.Parents have the option of purchasing the frame package at the Fair or in advance, but there is no obligation to purchase the frame to see your child's artwork on display.

Your child's invitation should have gone home in last week's Thursday Folder. If you did not receive one, please ask your child's homeroom teacher for one.Whether or not you purchase the frame package, if you plan on attending, then the invitation must be returned to ensure that your child's artwork is framed for viewing on the evening of the Fair. The PTO will also be hosting an ice-cream social, and the Kid's Art Fairs representative will have art activities available.Volunteers are needed to help make this year's Art Fair as successful as last year's Fair.If you would like to volunteer please fill out the information requested on the invitation and Ms. McCadden will be in touch.
