Happy Thanksgiving!
A Thanksgiving Message from Dr. Kevin Hoeffner:
For the many gifts He has given, we give thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving! As Mrs. Richmond and I prepare for our thanksgiving feasts, we will be thanking God for many things. We are especially thankful for you sharing your lives with us. Your children are truly miracles!
At any given moment, this community is welcoming new babies into world, celebrating sacraments like weddings, baptisms and first communion, rejoicing in anniversaries and birthdays, mourning the loss of loved ones, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor and encouraging those who are battling illness. We are so very blessed to be given the opportunity to serve in this community of believers. The school accomplishes so many amazing acts of Christian leadership and service through the active participation of dedicated teachers, students and parents.
Please remember, our Thanksgiving break begins tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 24 through Nov. 26.
May God bless your family gatherings with abundant peace and good health.

First Grade News
| The first grade classes wanted to do something generous and community-minded to celebrate the Thanksgiving season. On November 16, they participated on a field trip that was not only fun and educational; it allowed them to be good citizens at the same time! Their field trip gave them the opportunity to learn about the grocery store business and how donated food is distributed to the community.
The first part of their field trip took them to the Fort Pierce Publix in Sabal Palm Plaza. With the help of Assistant Manager Chris Larsen, the associates at Publix provided the children a tour of all of the departments at the store including the frozen foods, deli, produce and seafood. At the end of the tour, the children purchased canned goods and other non-perishable food items of their choice through the check-out line.
Once the students had their food in their recyclable bags, they traveled to the Treasure Coast Food Bank (TCFB) in Fort Pierce. With Community Investment Manager Krista Garofalo as their tour guide, the students learned about how food is donated to the TCFB, sorted and then distributed to those in need. The first-graders donated 208 pounds of food that day to the Treasure Coast Food Bank! They were able to sort their donated food items into appropriate boxes and sort fresh green peppers recently donated by local farmers. This hands-on tour concluded with a presentation about the Treasure Coast Food Bank, as well as juice and cookies for the children.
They ended the day with a trip to Rotary Park, but they won't soon forget the wonderful lessons in generosity they learned that day!

Thanksgiving Food Drive
| Thank you so much for all of the food donations! Nearly 1,000 non-perishable food items were collected and donated to local families in need. We are so thankful to everyone who participated, especially when times are tough. A special Thank You to first grade who brought in the most donations and another special Thank You to the Student Government students who picked up and sorted the donations!
Thank you from all of us at St. Anastasia Catholic Church and School!
