Thank You!!

We are so blessed at St. Anastasia Catholic School. In the short time we have been back in session, many families have gone above and beyond to help our school with monetary and in-kind donations. We would like to thank:

The DeMaio family - The DeMaio family helps St. Anastasia year after year with in-kind and financial support. So far this year, the DeMaio's company, Reprographic Solutions, provided the school our Parent/Student Handbook at no cost. Did you notice our beautifully painted auditorium? Well, the DeMaio family also donated the paint to accomplish this task over the summer!

The Raym family - The Raym family is new to our school, but not this community. Mrs. Raym grew up in Fort Pierce and is Mrs. Christopher's sister. Their daughter, Kendall, is in Mrs. Capezza's class. Their family happily donated $4,000 to our school for the purpose of purchasing a Classroom A/V System for Mrs. Capezza's classroom. (Details on how your family can help your student's classroom with one of these A/V systems is below).

The Powers family - Mr. and Mrs. Powers, Mrs. Christopher's parents, also graciously donated $4,000 for the purchase of a Classroom A/V System to be installed in Mrs. Wetmiller's classroom.

The Vogt family - The Vogt family donated $250 to purchase teaching supplies for Mrs. Capezza's classroom.

The Abel family - The Abel family donated $250 to install window tinting in Mrs. Capezza's classroom.

Thanks to these families and everyone who is so generous to St. Anastasia Catholic School! We couldn't do it without you!
Classroom Donation Opportunity
As technology has become part of our everyday life, so too it has become part of our learning environment. At St. Anastasia Catholic School, we are working towards installing a Classroom A/V System in each classroom. As mentioned above, Mrs. Wetmiller's and Mrs. Capezza's classrooms will soon have the use of this easy-to-use, network-enabled, all-inclusive A/V system that is ideal for high-tech learning and teaching!

The systems include a ceiling-mounted LCD projector, screen, speakers, Internet connectivity with their existing computers and a DVD/VCR. All components are mounted, connected and controlled through the system. Currently, the Art Room in the Media Center is using this system.

Each system costs $4,000. If you are interested in donating the entire amount or a portion of the amount towards your child's classroom, please contact Dr. Hoeffner at khoeffner@stanna.org or by calling the school office at 461-2232. Once installed, a small plaque will be placed near the control on the wall of the classroom with your family's name. Please consider this unique, one-time donation that will enhance your child's learning experience this year and will enhance future student's learning experience for many years to come!

Above: The Classroom A/V System that is currently installed in the Art Room. St. A's is hoping, through donations, to install a system like this one in every classroom.

Science Superstars
Mrs. Paxton's kindergarten class worked on a color science experiment this week. They are introducing colors and color words in their class and as a fun experiment, the students were able to choose two scoops of blue, red or yellow Jello to massage (or gently squeeze) inside a Ziploc bag. As the two colors mixed, the student discovered a secondary color. Later this week, the students will record their experiment on a worksheet and the students will list their two color choices and the resulting new color.

Top and Middle: Lauren Richards and Michael Gernie gently massage the two Jello colors to make one. Bottom: Lauren Hoeffner, along with dad Dr. Hoeffner, discover that blue and yellow Jello makes green Jello.
Science Superstars Part II
Mrs. Steele's 4th grade classes were busy in the science lab this week. They conducted an experiment called "Putting Powders to the Test" where they discovered what combination of ingredients produce a chemical change. The experiment reinforced what the students learned in class like how tiny particles of matter can be classified and combined. The students recorded the changes in the mixtures and identified the properties such as size, shape, color, volume, density and state.

From top to bottom: Josh Kimmelman, Amber Bertram and Drew Hicks work on the "Putting Powders to the Test" Experiment in Mrs. Steele's 4th grade science class.
