What is Heaven ...?
Mrs. Steele's 4th grade Religion Class recently had an assignment to write a paragraph describing the kingdom of Heaven. Here are some of their thoughts about Heaven.
"Heaven is more awesome than a big bowl of chocolate and vanilla ice cream." -- Arthur A.
"As you enter, God is with Jesus and Mary waiting to see your face." -- Carly B.
"Heaven feels like a warm, soft blanket on a cold day." -- Skyler C.
"There's one thing I know about Heaven, I'll be there!" -- Anthony F.
"Heaven might look like tall columns and streets paved with gold, with angels singing and praying." -- Brian J.
"Heaven feels like millions of puffs of tissues surrounding you." -- Karalynn K.
"Heaven is going to be a bunch of love!" -- Katie K.
"Heaven is more awesome than football by a lot!" -- Hunter K.
"Heaven is like a theme park for God." -- David M.
"All the vegetables taste like candy." -- Reese P.
"I will be sad when my family and friends are gone, but I know they're having a spectacular time." - Camilo P.
"Heaven feels like the movie theater, bowling alley and Mets Stadium. It's the most 'awesomest' place in the world!" -- Garret R.
"Heaven feels like a cool pool of water on a hot, sunny day and a wonderful warm blanket on a quiet cold day." -- Gabrielle S.
"Heaven feels like sitting in a basket of warm, freshly folded laundry on a snowy day." -- Jake S.
"In the kingdom of Heaven, you will have no more pain, no more bullies, no more sadness and lots of happiness." -- Asha T.
"But the greatest thing about Heaven is I get to see God and Jesus." -- Ryan T.

Jump Rope for Heart
|
Our
school is participating in a very special community service program to raise
funds for the American Heart Association. We will be "jumping" to fight against our nation's No.1 and No. 3 killers
- cardiovascular diseases and stroke. During regularly scheduled P.E. classes on March 1st and 2nd, we will participate in our "2nd Annual Jump Rope For Heart"
event. This program helps students learn
about the benefits of regular physical activity and heart health, but also
teaches children the value of giving back to those in need. Heart disease affects
every family, so help us support the American Heart Association as they help
people live longer, healthier lives!
Sponsor forms will go home in the Thursday folder and any donations are due by March 2, 2010. Our school will be eligible for P.E. supplies and certificates for our participation and students can win prizes such as a Free Kids Meal at Panera Bread, sports bottles, jump ropes t-shirts and more! If you have any questions about the event, please contact Coach Jo at the school. |

Jog-A-Thon Update
|
The Free Dress Day(s) for students who obtained at least $25 or more in pledges for the Jog-a-Thon will be next Thursday, Feb. 25 and Friday, Feb. 26. Students who obtained $50 or more in pledges have two Free Dress Days -- both Thursday and Friday (next week!) and students who obtained $25-$49.99 in pledges get One Free Dress Day on Friday only. Students will receive certificates noting the dates they are eligible. Please refer to the Student Handbook on our website (www.stanna.org) for questions on what to wear -- or what not to wear -- on Free Dress Days.
Also, congratulations to Paiten Springsteen (1st grade) and Blair Arnold (5th grade) as their names were drawn for the Dale's BBQ lunch with a friend! All of the students who obtained $42 or more in pledges were eligible for the drawing and on Tuesday, Sister Helene drew the names on St. A Live! They will enjoy lunch brought to them next Tuesday. Way to go!
Thank you again for all of your support and generosity in making the Jog-A-Thon a success.

St. Anastasia Church News
|
From Father George: The Holy Season of Lent is upon us. We are invited during this time of interior reflection and repentance to increase our prayer and almsgiving. A wonderful way to increase our prayer is through the Stations of the Cross. On Fridays during this Lenten season, we will have the opportunity to pray the Stations together in the Church led by Fr. Mark and myself. Please join us at 7 p.m. in the Church to journey with Christ through His passion and death so we can more fully rejoice with Him on Easter Sunday. There will be a fish fry in the Parish Center from 5 to 7 p.m. with the Stations following.
