Jog-A-Thon is Friday!
The annual Jog-A-Thon fundraiser is Friday!! Thursday, Feb. 4 is the last day to turn in pledges. In order for a student to participate, students must turn in a minimum of $10 in pledges. Students should wear their PE uniform or any Catholic Schools Week t-shirt with PE shorts on Friday for the Jog-A-Thon. Remember, Friday is a noon dismissal and there will be extended care. We need everyone's
participation to make this event a success. Our school goal is $24,000
and if every student turns in at least $42 in pledges, we will make our
goal. Thank
you to our generous sponsors of this event: Big Apple Pizza, Tropical
Smoothie, Presutti's Italian Subs and Panera Bread! Don't forget that all of the coupons from our sponsors have expiration dates, so make sure you use them before they expire! For parents and volunteers who wish to attend the Jog-A-Thon, see the information below regarding times and locations:

Catholic Schools Week
|
Catholic Schools Week has been a fantastic success so far and the week is only halfway over! Many saints and holy characters blessed us by dressing the part on Monday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, hundreds of grandparents and parents joined their children for a beautiful mass and delicious breakfast. A special THANK YOU to SLA Management for providing the breakfast and coffee both days. Thursday, we'll take an aerial photo of our human "Armor of God" and then enjoy a fresh fish dinner with our friends and family! To wrap up Catholic Schools Week on Friday, it's "Hats off to Students and Faculty Day" (everyone wears their favorite hat) and our annual Jog-A-Thon! Wow! Thanks to all who have participated in this joyous, faith-filled week and thanks to everyone who made the decision that Catholic Schools provide "Dividends for Life!" Top: Saints and holy characters from second grade including St. Michael, St. Joseph, an Angel, St. Francis, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Jesus, Mary and Father George. Bottom: Third-grader Jocelyn Saccullo dressed as St. Rose and eighth-grader Matthew Celidonio dressed as St. Michael the Archangel on Monday -- our day representing Faith!

Media Center News
|
From Mrs. Camber and the Library Staff: B attle of the Books is here again challenging students to
read for enjoyment, prizes and the playoff battle (game show style challenge of
information). Announced during library
class, our program began the week of January 11 and continues until April
15. Students are encouraged to sign up
at the circulation desk in the library before January 31. Students must agree to read
at least 6 of the books listed in the program to be eligible for the prizes and
game show battle at the end of the program in April.
The Sunshine State Young
Reader's Award Program is a statewide reading motivation program for students
in grades 3-8. The program, cosponsored by the School Library Media Services
Office of the Department of Education and the Florida Association for Media in
Education (FAME), began in 1983. The purpose of the SSYRA Program is to
encourage students to read independently for personal satisfaction, based on
interest rather than reading level. Sunshine State books are selected for their wide
appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or
multicultural representation. Students are encouraged to read books that are
above, on, and below their tested reading level in order to improve their
reading fluency.
This
reading motivation program was designed to entice students to read high
interest, contemporary literature for personal enjoyment. The long term goal of
the program is to nurture lifelong readers who will continue to read for
information needs and personal pleasure.
