Jog-A-Thon
The St. Anastasia Catholic School annual Jog-A-Thon kicks off on Friday, Jan. 15. Students in kindergarten through 8th grade will attend a pep rally on Friday promoting the event. Information about participation and sponsorship will go home in the students' Thursday folder. We are very excited about this year's event as we have some new prizes such as coupons for free food from Presutti's Italian Subs, Panera Break, Big Apple Pizza and Tropical Smoothie! The Jog-A-Thon is Friday, February 5 and will cap off Catholic Schools Week this year. We are trying different strategies this year to encourage participation such as prizes for specific Turn-In Days! Additionally, we will be using "Sponsor Sheets" as you will see in your participation package.

Jogathon 09

We need everyone's participation to make this event a success. Our school goal is $24,000 and if every student turned in at least $42 in pledges, we will make our goal.

Also, we are looking for volunteers to: count laps, serve water, work as medical personnel, set up and clean up. Please call Jeanie Lattner at 461-2232 if you can help. Thank you!

Creative Communication celebrates today's writers in a big way! Mrs. D'Amato's students had an opportunity to write and submit one piece of original poetry to Creative Communication. All ten submissions were published! This is a very unusual happening:

"It is such a pleasure to read through so many excellent poems in one packet. Ordinarily about half of the poems are rejected during our preliminary judging. However, from the packet you sent in we had an extremely high percentage accepted. This is very unusual."

We are so very proud of all of these students:
Monica Arbona, Lainey Busby, Diana Lanza, Hailee Leonor, Jennifer Samander, Laura Samander, Emily Stapleton, Troy Terwilliger, Matthew Vigilio and Taylor Wester.

Some decided to take a risk and be judged; it was worth it! For more information about Creative Communication, visit http://www.poeticpower.com/.
Congratulations!
