A Note of Thanksgiving

For the many gifts He has given, we give thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving! As Mrs. Richmond and I prepare for our thanksgiving feasts we will be thanking God for many things. We are especially thankful for you sharing your lives with us. Your children are truly miracles!

At any given moment, this community is welcoming new babies into the world, celebrating sacraments like weddings, baptisms and first communion, rejoicing in anniversaries and birthdays, mourning the loss of loved ones, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor and encouraging those who are battling illness. We are so very blessed to be given the opportunity to serve in this community of believers. The school accomplishes so many amazing acts of Christian leadership and service through the active participation of dedicated teachers, students, and parents.

May God bless your family gatherings with abundant peace and good health.

Kevin Hoeffner, Principal &
Karen Richmond, Assistant Principal
Veterans Day Thanks
As you know, we recognized Veterans Day on November 11th with a special celebration on campus. A veteran who participated sent us this wonderful thank you note and we wanted to share it with you.

Dear Students and Teachers at St. Anastasia,
As a veteran of the United States Army's 101st Airborne Division, I want to thank all of you who helped make our reception on Veteran's Day such a memorable one.

The special cards from you all have been read and shared with family members and will be cherished for many years.

Meeting with many of you, listening to the Band, having donuts and coffee and visiting with the other veterans made me feel loved. All that we went through was well worth our efforts. I am so very proud of you all. You are the fruits of our serving our wonderful country.

Your warmth and openness truly made us feel like "American Heroes." With much love, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. God bless you all.

PFC Patrick E. Hughes, 101st Airborne Division, 506th Infantry Battalion

S.W.A.T. -- Students with the Ability to Teach
Mrs. D'Amato's 8th grade newspaper students are S.W.A.T. team members - Students With Ability to Teach! The 8th graders are meeting with Mrs. Odom's and Mrs. Steele's 4th graders for a little help with writing. On Thursday afternoons, an 8th grader is paired up with a 4th grader in order to help them work on an essay.  The 8th graders help the younger students with organization, spelling and sentence structure. In addition to the educational benefits, just being with a cool older student simply made the 4th graders' day!

Volunteer Information
It is the policy of the Diocese of Palm Beach and St. Anastasia Catholic School to complete a background and fingerprint check on any parent/grandparent who wishes to be a volunteer at the school or a chaperone on school field trips. The parent/grandparent must also attend a Protecting God's Children workshop before they may volunteer. Protecting God's Children is a workshop on child sexual abuse.

Parents/grandparents will not be approved to volunteer or chaperone until we have received the results of a fingerprint background check and we have verification of attendance at a Protecting God's Children workshop.  The background check is valid for 5 years. Many of our parents are now due to have an updated fingerprint background check. You will receive a letter from Mrs. MacAdie letting you know that it is time for an update.

Please call or send a note to the office if you would like to request a Volunteer Packet. The packet will be sent home with your child. If you have any questions, please call the school office.
