Kindergarten Honors St. Therese
On October 1, the kindergarten students participated in a procession honoring St. Therese on her feast day. Several years ago, the kindergarten students adopted St. Therese as their patron saint. Generations of Catholics have admired this young saint, calling her the "Little Flower." St. Therese is known for her "Little Way." In her quest for sanctity, she realized that it was not necessary to accomplish heroic acts, or "great deeds," in order to attain holiness and to express her love of God. She wrote, "Love proves itself by deeds, so how am I to show my love? Great deeds are forbidden me. The only way I can prove my love is by scattering flowers and these flowers are every little sacrifice, every glance and word, and the doing of the least actions for love." Thus, the kindergarten students honor her by giving a rose to adults as they process around the school grounds. During the procession, one student dresses as St. Therese and another student dresses as a Guardian Angel to honor the Feast Day of the Guardian Angels that takes place on October 2.

St. A's Family and Business Directory
St. Anastasia Catholic School and Church is a very blessed community! Do you realize we have restaurant owners, builders, doctors, dentists, plumbers, store owners, repair experts, insurance agents, hairdressers (just to mention a few) among us? Wouldn't it be great to support each other whenever possible?

This year we are updating our Family directory to include business information to support our St. Anastasia Business Community. Our first step is to collect business information by category, for example: Dentist, Contractor, Insurance, Builder, Restaurant, etc. An option we would like to include is any special incentives for St. Anastasia families, for instance: 10% when you mention you are from St. Anastasia or something appropriate for your business.

This is a free service to you, our St. A's families, and will be available on our website and printed copies will be available. If your business would like to be included in the St. Anastasia Catholic School Family and Business Directory, please click here and fill out the Business Directory form no later than Friday, Oct. 16. When complete, please return to Linette Trabulsy at ltrabulsy@stanna.org, drop it off to the front office or send in with your child (Attn: Development Office).

Again this year, we will be updating the Directory with Family contact information. If you would like your contact information to be included in this year's Family section of the Family and Business Directory, please complete the Family Directory Form on our website at www.stanna.org. You may provide us with all the information on the form or select only the information that you want included in the Directory. Please return this form to the school office no later than Friday, Oct. 16.

There are two forms to complete for this Directory.
1. The Family Directory Form needs to be filled out with your contact information for your family.
2. The Business Directory Form needs to be filled out if you have a business you work for/own and want to promote it to St. A's families. Both forms are on our website.
If you have questions, please contact Linette Trabulsy at 461-2232. Thanks for your support!
Commemorative Brick Program
Bricks sidewalkDid you know that St. Anastasia Catholic School has a Commemorative Brick Program? You can celebrate your legacy at St. A's by participating in the program. The decorative bricks are placed on the "Walk of Excellence" along the sidewalk down the middle of campus. They are personalized with three lines of inscription. It's never too early to start thinking of a unique Christmas, First Holy Communion or Graduation gift! Click here for details.
Science Superstars!
Mrs. Steele's 4th grade classes were busy in the science lab this week. They conducted an experiment called "Putting Powders to the Test" where they discovered what combination of ingredients produce a chemical change. The experiment reinforced what the students learned in class like how tiny particles of matter can be classified and combined. The students recorded the changes in the mixtures and identified the properties such as size, shape, color, volume, density and state.

Volunteer Hours Opportunity
Pine conesOur Annual Christmas Tree and Wreath sale, in partnership with JCHS, is Dec. 4 & 5. We will be decorating the wreaths prior to the sale and need some supplies. If you would like to purchase a bag of pine cones and donate them to the school, you could earn volunteer hours. The pine cones can be found at many stores including Michaels and Big Lots. The approximate cost is $4.99 per bag and each bag has about 12 pine cones in them. (Michaels has been running a 40% off coupon in the Sunday paper). If you donate 5 bags of pine cones, you earn 1 volunteer hour. Please do not collect the pine cones from your yard as they are too large to use on the wreaths. Contact Linette Trabulsy in the Development Office if you have questions. Donations may be dropped off in the Development Office. Thank you!
