Jeans Day & Kate VolleyballPep Rally!

On Friday, Sept. 18th at 2:15 p.m., join us for a pep rally under the pavilion as we celebrate our Soccer and Volleyball season.
JV Volleyball player
Kate Westenhaver serves the ball.

On that day, all Soccer Players, Volleyball Players, Band Members and Cheerleaders will be allowed to wear their jerseys or spirit shirts with their school uniform bottoms and uniform shoes.

We will also hold a fundraiser that day to support our sports programs. This is separate event from our Jeans Day(s) for the Magazine Drive, as the students will be awarded those days in October (see below).

All staff, faculty and students may pay $2.00 to wear jeans, their favorite sports shirt and tennis shoes that day.
If the students wearing jerseys choose to wear jeans on that day, they will also pay the $2.00 to participate in the jeans day. If you have questions, please contact the school office at 461-2232.
Thank You!
The annual Magazine Drive fundraiser was a wonderful success. We fell short of our $55,000 goal, but we still brought in just over $36,000 -- of which the school gets 40%!

Students who won the Jeans Day(s) will be given certificates indicating which days they can wear jeans. The days will be October 1 and 2. Those certificates will come home in the Thursday envelope on Sept. 24.

To celebrate the success of the fundraiser, there will be a Pig Race event on Friday, Oct. 2. Each class won a mechanical pig to dress and will race them during the afternoon event. The top 3 sellers will also be announced during the celebration and awarded their prizes!

8th Grade Retreat
Last Friday, our 8th graders participated in a 1-day retreat at school and at St. Mark the Evangelist Church. The theme was: It's a jungle out there...Stay Connected to the Vine (John 15:1-5) and it stressed the importance of the perfect communion of love found in the Trinity and that God wants us to share in that love. It served as a reminder to stay close to Jesus and that God is always with us. The students participated in activities that encouraged trust and teamwork that comes from modeling the perfect community of the Trinity. The Retreat team consisted of Sara Fitzgerald (Religion Coordinator), Melissa McWhorter, Dottie Patterson and Lisa Smith, along with other faculty and parent volunteers.

Pinwheels for Peace & International Day of Peace
Our "Pinwheels" are ready and we invite you to join us as we celebrate the International Day of Peace on Monday, September 21. Our "Pinwheels for Peace" project is an art installation project allowing students to express their feelings about what's going on in the world and in their lives. Students in 6th grade and pre-school will "plant" the pinwheels on campus during two morning ceremonies each with a short prayer service by Father George and Father Mark. The first installation will be in the Courtyard from 9:55-10:15 a.m., and the second will be in the Butterfly Garden from 11:25-11:45 a.m.

Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Or do you know of anyone who is?

St. Anastasia will soon begin a new journey in faith to share the richness of the Catholic Church and our parish family. We invite you to learn what the Church teaches, and be introduced to some of our parish members. These sessions also are opportunities for you, and others that you may wish to invite, to ask those perplexing and difficult questions you may have about the Church. These gatherings are for inquirers and are open to people who are unbaptized, as well as those who are baptized Christians from Protestant or Evangelical backgrounds, and also for those Catholics who have not completed their Sacraments of Initiation (baptism, First Communion, Confirmation). The first session for adults is Wednesday, September 16th at 7 p.m. in the Southeast Room at the Parish Center. The first session for children is Tuesday, September 29th from 4 to 5 pm in the Southeast Room of the Parish Center. Please call if you have questions or would like further information at 772-461-2233 or email at Susan.Elizabeth.Smith@gmail.com.
7th and 8th Grade Dance
Attention 7th & 8th grade students: You have a dance coming up! It will be on Friday, September 18th from 7:30-10:00 p.m. in the school auditorium. Come have fun with your friends, but remember to dress appropriately -- including no hats! The cost for the dance is $6 in advance or $7 at the door. Please note, gum is not allowed. If you are not in school that day, you will not be permitted to attend the dance that night. This dance is for St. Anastasia students only.

Attention 8th grade parents: This First Quarter dance (September 18th from 7:30-10:00 p.m.) is your responsibility. Please send in snacks (chips, veggies, cookies, etc.), drinks (2-liter bottles of soda or gallons of water/punch), and paper products (napkins, 8-ounce cups) by Friday, Sept. 18 to Mrs. Smith. We also need you to chaperone and help clean up. If you can help in any way, please fill out the form below and send it in to Mrs. Smith. See you there and thanks!

The Diocese of Palm Beach is hosting a Grandparents Pilgrimage on Saturday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m. This special mass will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius of Loyola located at 9999 N. Military Trail in Palm Beach Gardens.

Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night
Mrs. Capezza's second grade class read the story "Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night" last week. The story is about a camping adventure and as an integrated writing lesson, students responded to a writing prompt and wrote their own narrative stories. At the end of the week, the class rolled out their sleeping bags, made a "campfire" and enjoyed tasty marshmallows while sharing their creative stories! How fun!

Pre-K News
Attention Pre-K Parents! Our Pre-K students have been very busy this year. They will celebrate "Safari Day" on Friday, Sept. 25th with some "wild" activities and crafts.

Did you know that the Pre-K teachers update their classroom website each week? Click here for the weekly Pre-K Post and stay up-to-date with all the news for Pre-K!
Cool Weather is Coming!
Just a reminder..It might still feel like summer but cool weather is coming. All sweaters and/or jackets must be purchased from our school uniform store. All previous styles of St. Anastasia jackets or sweaters purchased from the uniform store may be worn as part of the school uniform. Shop NOW before the cool weather gets here! Thanks!
Prayer Tree
You've probably walked by our "Prayer Tree" many times and not realized that it was more than just decoration. You can request prayers for relatives and friends who are in need by filling out a "Prayer Tree" form in the lobby and giving it to the front office. We will hang an "Angel" on our tree with the name of the person you want us to pray for and the students and faculty will keep these individuals in their prayers. Prayer intentions are also mentioned on the daily "St. A Live." Additionally, we will send a card to the person who we are praying for. If you are interested in sending prayers to someone in your life, please contact Jeanie Lattner at 461-2232 or fill out a "Prayer Tree" form in the school's lobby.
Tuition Reduction with SCRIP Gift Cards
The SCRIP Program is a program that St. Anastasia parents can purchase gift cards through the school and the school will receive a profit from each card purchased. A complete list of cards that are available can be found at GLScrip.com. By creating family accounts with on-line ordering we will be able to track usage and you can directly impact your family re-registration/tuition fees.

Click here to set up your family account. The enrollment code for St. Anastasia Catholic School is E7A4L4C913783. The school office will receive your order electronically. You will need to print a page to send with payment. Payment is due Monday mornings by 9:00 a.m. in order to be processed by that week. No order will be placed until payment is received. Orders are usually back in time for delivery in the Thursday folder. If you prefer to pick up the cards in the office, please make a note on your order form.

St. Anastasia School shares the profits with you: 50% credit to the School and 50% credit toward your re-registration/tuition fees. For example, if you buy a gift card for $50 and the discount is 10%, the school gets $2.50 credit and you get $2.50 credit. All money credited to your account becomes the property of St. Anastasia School when your family leaves the school. You must order online to qualify for this discount.
