All School Mass
On Wednesday, August 26, St. Anastasia Catholic School held it's first All School Mass for the school year. Sara Fitzgerald, 7th & 8th grade religion teacher, prepared a brief introduction to the mass having some teachers hold the letters A-N-A-S-T-A-S-I-A and describing what each letter stood for.

First Mass
  • Awesome God we serve here
  • New Life in students and teachers who have joined us this year
  • Awareness that God invites us all
  • Sacraments that heal and feed us after we fall
  • Time we take to see God in our sister or brother
  • Attitude of love for one another
  • Savior who died and freed us from sin
  • Initiative to respond to the grace from Him
  • All glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.
Parent/Student Handbook Reminder
Just a reminder: Parents please discuss the Parent/Student Handbook with your families, and sign and return the "Handbook Acknowledgment Form" at the back of the book!
Parent/Student Handbook Correction!
Attention Parents! Page 8 of the Parent/Student Handbook contains incorrect information regarding cheating and test taking rules. The correct statement on page 8 should read: "In grades six through eight, any student found cheating or plagiarizing in any area of the curriculum will receive a "zero" for that assignment, test, or project and the conduct grade will be lowered by one number.
Back to School Night
Back to School Night for grades K-5 is Thursday, September 3 at 7 p.m. We will begin promptly at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium and then you will have the opportunity to meet with the teachers after some brief opening comments from the Principal. If you have any questions, please contact the school office at 461-2232.
September Lunch Menu
The September SLA Lunch Menu is now available on the school's website.
Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet
Thank you to all the parents who already filled out the Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet and sent it back to the Development Office. If you haven't filled it out yet, that's ok! Just fill it out and send it back no later than Friday, Sept. 11. If your family received more than one copy of the sign-up sheet, please just fill out one copy to send back to the school. Thank you!
Daisy Leader Needed
From Mrs. Denise Ageeb, Girl Scout Leader: Attention mothers of kindergarten and first grade girls! We are in search of a mom or moms who would like to lead a Daisy Girl Scout group at St. Anastasia. There have been many parents interested in signing up their daughters for Girl Scouts at this age level, but we need a leader. Meetings are once a month after school. To become a leader only requires a few hours of training. Please contact me if you are interested in having fun with Girl Scouts! I can be reached at geebea@bellsouth.net or at 878-0151. Thank you!
Teacher Update
Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts for our teachers this year. Here's an update on a couple of them:
  • Mrs. Cheries' daughter, Christie, will be getting the care that she needs. The family was praying to get approval from her insurance company to see a doctor from Shands Hospital and their requests and prayers were answered. Mrs. Cheries, a former St. Anastasia 2nd grade teacher, appreciates your prayers and support.
  • Mrs. Forget, Pre-K teacher, also appreciates your prayers and support. During the first week of school, she broke her wrist. She now has a cast on her hand and, under doctor's orders, will wait until next week to return to the classroom in order to let some of the swelling go down. She really misses her class and can't wait to get back to them!
We are truly blessed to have the wonderful teachers and staff we have at St. Anastasia Catholic School. We have the best parents, too! So thank you, parents, for all you do for our teachers and school, especially for your prayers!

The parent must also attend a Protecting God's Children workshop before they may volunteer. Protecting God's Children is a workshop on child sexual abuse.
