25% reduction in 527 changeover times |
W+D Machinery has developed several adjuster friendly modifications to simplify knife changes in the cutting tower of the 527 machine. Customers have reported that together, these changes reduce size change times by 25% or more in the cutting tower by ELIMINATING time consuming steps required to:
1- Disconnect/connect the knives to the gear tower drive with bolts/nuts
2- Unlock/lock the cutting bridges by unscrewing/screwing the long hold down bolts
3- Unlock/lock the bridge pull bolts by un-screwing/screwing the long pull bolts in/out for knife changes
The entire modification package is easily installed by your maintenance personnel in 2-3 hours.
Based on 2 changeovers per week these new modifications to the 527 cutting tower will yield an 8- 12 month payback depending on your specific situation.

More upgrades for your existing W+D machines |
W+D has introduced our Technical Improvement Program or TIP for short. What is a TIP? If you need to expand your production capabilities, update your existing W+D machine or simply add additional features, you will find these upgrades here. This program will encompass all of the proven W+D machine upgrades available for every machine type.
Follow this TIP link to the W+D web site. Continue to the Technical Improvement Program link listed on the main service page.
Here you will be asked the following questions:
Production Area (select converting for envelope equipment) After selecting your production area, a secondary menu will appear.
Technical Machine Type (select your machine type from the pull down menu)
Then enter search TIP
Again, you can enter as much or as little data as you have available. You can search by serial number, the year your machine was built, and the machine type. We currently have approximately 100 TIP upgrades available for our W+D machines. This list is growing, so please check back periodically. You can also obtain a free CD with all the current TIPS available at this time by emailing Robert Gossage at regossage@wdmachinery.com.
