Keep an eye out for heavy equipment transportation in our area as construction on the Wurzbach Parkway extension continues to progress.
Please drive slowly when entering the grounds near the Sally Cheever Girl Scout Leadership Center, as trucks will be coming and going quite often through the lot.
Construction on Wurzbach Parkway is scheduled for completion in 2015.

Local Girl Scouts supply fellow students through Silver and Bronze award project
Girl Scouts from the Kirby area are collaborating on a community service project to earn the Silver and Bronze Award. "Operation Supply a Student" was created to collect school supplies for students in the Judson Independent School District. Serena Contreras, a Girl Scout Cadette who started the project, said, "I originally came up with this idea when I noticed some of my friends did not have the supplies needed to begin the school year. This is my attempt to make a difference in the community."
Girl Scouts involved in the project would like to see it become an annual event. By "supporting Operation Supply a Student, we are ensuring our place as future community leaders," said Hannah Leake, Girl Scout Cadette.
Maria Hernandez, the adult advisor for this project, has helped the girls navigate the necessary paperwork and keep the project on track. "This is a great opportunity for these girls to not only help their fellow students, but also for the Girl Scouts to make a positive impact in their community," Hernandez said. "By getting local businesses involved, it opens the door for greater communication and future endeavors."
Operation Supply a Student collection events will take place on the following days:
- 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, July 21 at Boost Virgin Mobile (9081 FM 78, Converse, 78109)
- 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday, July 22 at Wal-Mart Supercenter (8315 FM 78, Converse, 78109)
- 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, August 4 at Office Max in the Woodlake Crossing Shopping Center (6212 Wood Glen Drive, San Antonio, 78244)
