Join the Celebration
It's your Girl Scout history -- come read and enjoy photos of 100 years in the USA and 88 years in San Antonio and surrounding areas outlined by decades on beautiful green banners! These banners, the work of the 100th Anniversary History Committee, will be displayed at the Sally Cheever Girl Scout Leadership Center near the lobby! Enjoy the scavenger hunt, available in the Resource Center, while you travel down memory lane!
A second set of these banners are displayed with a large vintage Girl Scout collection at the Boerne Library until March 31 -- hours are Monday and Tuesday until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday until 6:00 p.m., Friday until 5:00 p.m., and Saturday until 3:00 p.m.
There is also a wonderful Girl Scout collection being displayed in Castroville at the Landmark Inn. The grand opening will be Sunday, March 11, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with the mayor's proclamation at 2:00 p.m. This display will be featured until March 31 every day from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Don't forget -- you can still share our history in your area. Still have that vintage Brownie beanie? How about a unique Girl Scout pin? Show them off by identifying a location within your area to host a 100th anniversary exhibit or display. Interested but need help in organizing? The council's 100th Anniversary History Committee has ideas for you! For more information or to submit secured locations for an exhibit or display, please contact Linda Jurman.

Go beyond -- take the ToGetHerThere Pledge and visit togetherthere.org to determine how you can make a difference in the future of American leadership.

Go Retro -- Change that Photo!
Calling all Girl Scouts! For the month of March, Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas is asking all alumnae to change their Facebook profile pictures to a photo of them as a young Girl Scout in uniform.

It's finally here -- 100 years ago this month, Juliette Gordon Low placed a phone call to a friend, declaring, "I've got something for the girls of Savannah, and all of America, and all the world, and we're going to start it tonight!" That evening, she gathered 18 girls to register the first troop of Girl Scouts. The rest, as they say, is history.

100th Anniversary Bear
Build-A-Bear Workshop will introduce the limited edition commemorative 100th Anniversary Girl Scout Bear on March 16. These bears would make a great gift for a volunteer or your Girl Scout's birthday!

Build-A-Bear Workshop will also host special Girl Scout events at their affiliate store locations. Tornadoes in the United States:
How Can You Help?

The outpouring of support for the people affected in the wake of the devastating tornadoes in the United States last week has been remarkable, and Girl Scouts across the country are always eager to help in many different ways. We know, however, that after natural disasters like these, sending funds is often the best way to help.

Below is a list of ways individuals and troops can help.

Summer of the Girl Guide --
Coming Soon!

Thank you for your patience as the Summer of the Girl Guide, your 2012 camp guide, is produced. It's taking a bit longer to produce this year, and we apologize for any frustration. However, you will be happy to know the reason for the delay is that each Girl Scout household will be mailed a copy of the guide. This is the first time in more than five years that it has been printed and mailed.

Expect your Summer of the Girl Guide to arrive in mailboxes early March.
2012 Cookie Tech YouTube Contest --

How do you bring virtual attention to your Thin Mints, Samoas and Savannah Smiles sales? Show us! The winner of the 2012 Cookie Tech YouTube Contest will become "CEO for a Day" of Webhead -- an information, technology and web development company located in San Antonio, led by our very own Honorary CEO, Janie M. Gonzalez.

Deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. CST on Monday, March 12, 2012.

The winner will not be selected based on number of cookies sold. We are looking only for the most creative use of technology when selling Girl Scout cookies!

Community Conversations 2012

Let's talk! What is working? What do you need for resources and support? What leadership opportunities do you want to see? What isn't working as well? Service Unit team positions, meetings, structure?

Join one of our volunteer facilitators as they lead these Community Conversation discussions that will take place throughout the council. You are welcome to attend any of the meetings and bring your ideas as we strive to support all volunteers.

Get the complete list of dates, times and locations here! First one to be held Monday, March 19.

Website Redesign in the Works
It's no longer good enough to have a static website -- it must evolve as technologies change, as well as when peoples' needs change. GSSWT realizes its website needs continuous improvement to capture your attention, have new information, and engage you. Therefore, we invite you to give us your feedback as we embark on the journey to the website redesign.

In a perfect world, what would you like to see added to the website? What are the successes of the current site? What are the failures? Provide your feedback now.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your input, it is most appreciated.
