Happy World Thinking Day

World Thinking Day 2012Each year on February 22, Girl Scouts participate in activities and projects with global themes to honor sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in other countries.

"
World Thinking Day not only gives our girls a chance to celebrate international friendships, but is a reminder that our local council is just a single part of a global community," said Rose Gonzalez Perez, Interim CEO for Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas.

The United States is one of nearly 150 countries with Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. The theme for World Thinking Day 2012 is girls worldwide say "we can save our planet!" This theme is based on the United Nation's Millennium Development goal, focused on environmental sustainability. World Thinking Day activities are designed to complement Girl Scout leadership journeys and reinforce the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

Last Day of Girl Scout Cookie Sales is Sunday, February 26
The last day to purchase Girl Scout cookies this season is Sunday, February 26! This is the last day those sweet Samoas and tasty Tagalongs will be available for purchase in front of neighborhood stores.

Looking for a Girl Scout cookie booth near you? Those craving a quick Thin Mint fix can download the free mobile Cookie Locator app from iTunes, Android Marketplace, or by calling **GSCOOKIES (**472665437) from a mobile phone. The app can be used to find the Girl Scout cookie booth sale closest to your GPS location or ZIP code, choose times to shop, map the route to the nearest booth, discover cookie personalities and share sale locations and more with friends on Facebook and Twitter.

Don't have a smart phone? Find your cookies by visiting girlscouts-swtx.org or calling 210-349-2404/1-800-580-7247.

This is the only year girls from Troop 7775 in San Antonio will be featured on the box of Savannah Smiles, a tribute to Girl Scouting's 100th anniversary and the city where the organization was founded in 1912. Make sure to stock up on the lemon-flavored, powdered sugar-dusted cookies before Monday!

Save the Planet, Support Girl ScoutsReusable Bag
Ditch the paper and plastic -- pick up one of these reusable bags from your local H-E-B store today! H-E-B and Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas have partnered to create and sell reusable bags to commemorate Girl Scouting's 100th anniversary. Art depicted on the bags was created by Girl Scouts from Texas to honor 100 years of Girl Scouts.

The reusable bags are now available exclusively at all H-E-B stores in Texas, and proceeds from bag sales will benefit all Girl Scout councils across the state. These bags are only available until May, so grab yours before they're gone! Can't find them in your local store? Ask an H-E-B employee where they display reusable bags, and keep an eye on our Facebook page for locations where the bags have been spotted!
