Girl Scouts Honors Friend and Volunteer, Jennifer Woods | |
Jennifer Woods, devoted troop leader and cookie mom in the Alamo Heights Service Unit, passed away on Tuesday, January 10. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., tomorrow, Saturday, January 14 at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, 825 E. Basse, San Antonio, 78209. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, 811 N. Coker Loop, San Antonio, Texas 78216.

GSSWT Office Closed Dates | |
All GSSWT offices -- including the Girl Scout Shop and Resource Center -- will be closed Monday, January 16 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. See future closed dates here.

Join in the largest MLK March

Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas will again be participating in the 2012 Martin Luther King Jr. March and invites all Girl Scouts and their families to march together 10:00-11:30 a.m., Monday, January 16.
This local march is the largest currently held in the United States and expects to have 100,000 participants this year, as well as Martin Luther King III as a keynote speaker.
Approximately 2.75 miles long, the march will begin at the MLK Freedom Bridge (near MLK Academy at the 3500 Block of MLK Drive) and will end at Pittman-Sullivan Park (1101 Iowa Street). Additional festivities will follow, so come out and march with GSSWT. To learn more about this march and where Girl Scouts will meet up to walk together, contact Megan D.C. First-ever Girl Scout Day at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo -- Sun., Feb. 12

Are you ready to rodeo Girl Scout style?! Gather up the young'uns, don yur jeans, boots,and hats and head on down to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo for the first-ever Girl Scout Day on Sunday, February 12!
Experience this long-standing San Antonio tradition with a Girl Scout scavenger hunt on the rodeo grounds, and explore the many educational exhibits such as the Rodeo Hall of Fame, Animal Adventures, Little Hands on the Farm, and the Horse Education Building. Y'all will even earn yourselves a commemorative rodeo patch!
Cost is $13/person ages 3+ (young'uns 2 and under are free) and includes admission, rodeo performance ticket, and the patch. No worries y'all, the concert is a family-friendly show featurin' Hot Chelle Rae after the rodeo performance. Join sister Girl Scouts for the 100th anniversary by traveling nationally and internationally. These opportunities are unique, exciting and action packed.
Sing with more than 300,000 Girl Scouts from around the nation at the Rock The Mall: 100th Anniversary Sing-Along on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Cross the seas and go to Ireland, England and Wales to visit other sister Girl Scouts across the world, and participate in a special Take Action project at Pax Lodge.
Pick one -- or both -- of these great adventures! But make sure to sign up now, final deadlines are fast approaching.

AT&T has announced a special matching gifts initiative exclusively for AT&T employees. If employees make a gift to Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas or to GSUSA through March 31, 2012, AT&T will match that gift dollar for dollar up to $500,000. Employee gifts made to Girl Scouts through the 2012 United Way or Employee Giving campaigns will also be matched.
