Submissions due Monday, December 12
The stars at night... are BIG and BRIGHT.. deep in the heart of TEXAS! If you love to sing and dance, and have musical talent, Girls Rock Tour is looking for you!

GSSWT is searching for girls to perform at the 2012 SeaWorld San Antonio Cookie Rally. This opportunity is open to all registered Girl Scouts. Click here for more details and submission form! Submissions are due no later than Monday, December 12.
Who Will You Nominate?
Have you received excellent service from a GSSWT staff member? Then nominate them for the Recognizing Excellence Staff Award.

Up to six staff members may be recognized each quarter in one of the following categories: customer service, commitment, flexibility, teamwork, leadership, and creativity and innovation.
 
Nominations from staff and volunteers for the fourth quarter will be accepted through Friday, December 23 for awards presented in January 2012. A group of board members will select the award recipients each quarter. At the end of the year, one staff member will be selected as GSSWT's Best of the Best.

GSSWT Office Closed Dates  
For the winter holidays, offices -- including the Girl Scout Shop and Resource Center -- will be closed beginning Monday, December 26 and will reopen Tuesday, January 3, 2012.

Here are additional dates that all offices will be closed:
  • Wednesday, January 11 -- Staff Development Meeting
  • Monday, January 16 -- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

BIGGER and BETTER than Ever!
2012 SeaWorld San Antonio Cookie Rally --
Saturday, January 21, 2012
 
All Girl Scout families are welcome to join GSSWT for splashes of fun at the annual cookie rally. Start with an interactive tailgate party where girls can earn up to five different patches brought to you by H-E-B, CPS Energy, Valero Energy Corporation, Rackspace Hosting, and Wells Fargo. Later, jump into a park excursion with shows, rides, games, and much, much more!

The fun kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Cost is just $12/person ages 2+; new this year, an all-you-can-eat buffet available for an additional fee. Get all the details and registration form here!
Volunteer Recognitions

Have you been waiting to nominate that amazing volunteer in your service unit? Here's your chance! Board-approved awards are the perfect way to show your appreciation and to give thanks to your fellow volunteers.

 

Awards include Girl Scout Volunteer Achievement Award, Thanks Badge, Community Partner Award, and more -- see the entire list here.

 

Nomination forms are due to the Adult Development Department by Tuesday, January 31. Forms may be mailed, faxed, or delivered to council.

November 2011 -- "I am a huge advocate for volunteering because it helps the community," states Selena Mitchell, Girl Scout Ambassador and the reigning Miss Black Texas USA Talented Teen.

Anna Maria Chávez Featured in Trends Magazine 
December 2011 -- The new CEO for Girl Scouts of the USA graces the cover of the current issue of San Antonio's Trends magazine. The article, written by Express-News reporter Elaine Ayala, tells the story of Anna's inspiration as a young girl and her journey to becoming the first woman of color to lead the national movement. Pick up your issue of the FREE publication at your local H-E-B or Jim's Restaurant.

New MLC Featured on Great Day SA 
December 9, 2011 -- Floresville Girl Scouts were on hand during Friday's Great Day SA to share news of the brand new Mobile Leadership Center. Visit the KENS 5 website to check out the video.

Shop News

Please note that the Girl Scout Shop (along with all GSSWT offices and the Resource Center) will be closed for the holidays beginning Monday, December 26 and will reopen Tuesday, January 3, 2012.

Monday-Thursday: 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

Friday: 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Second Saturday: 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
