GSSWT Office Closed Dates | |
All GSSWT offices will be closed Wednesday, December 7 for a Staff Development Meeting. For the winter holidays, offices -- including the Girl Scout Shop and Resource Center -- will be closed beginning Monday, December 26 and will reopen Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Here are additional dates that all offices will be closed:
- Wednesday, January 11 -- Staff Development Meeting
- Monday, January 16 -- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Holiday Mail for HeroesThe holiday season is just around the corner and it's time again to participate in the 2011 American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes. The process is very simple and takes no time at all to share your appreciation for the sacrifices members of the U.S. Armed Forces make to protect our freedoms. The Holiday Mail for Heroes mailbox is open and ready for your cards (deadline is Friday, December 9): Holiday Mail For Heroes P.O. Box 5456 Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456 Sending a "touch of home" to American men and women who serve our country is the perfect way to express your appreciation and support during the holiday season. The stars at night... are BIG and BRIGHT.. deep in the heart of TEXAS! If you love to sing and dance, and have musical talent, Girls Rock Tour is looking for you! GSSWT is searching for girls to perform at the 2012 SeaWorld San Antonio Cookie Rally. This opportunity is open to all registered Girl Scouts. Click here for more details and submission form! Who Will You Nominate?

Have you received excellent service from a GSSWT staff member? Then nominate them for the Recognizing Excellence Staff Award.
Up to six staff members may be recognized each quarter in one of the following categories: customer service, commitment, flexibility, teamwork, leadership, and creativity and innovation. Nominations from staff and volunteers for the fourth quarter will be accepted through Friday, December 23 for awards presented in January 2012. A group of board members will select the award recipients each quarter. At the end of the year, one staff member will be selected as GSSWT's Best of the Best. 2012 SeaWorld San Antonio Cookie Rally -- Saturday, January 21, 2012 All Girl Scout families are welcome to join GSSWT  for splashes of fun at the annual cookie rally. Start with an interactive tailgate party where girls can earn up to five different patches brought to you by H-E-B, CPS Energy, Valero Energy Corporation, Rackspace Hosting, and Wells Fargo. Later, jump into a park excursion with shows, rides, games, and much, much more! The fun kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Cost is just $12/person ages 2+; new this year, an all-you-can-eat buffet available for an additional fee. Get all the details and registration form here!

Have you been waiting to nominate that amazing volunteer in your service unit? Here's your chance! Board-approved awards are the perfect way to show your appreciation and to give thanks to your fellow volunteers.
Awards include Girl Scout Volunteer Achievement Award, Thanks Badge, Community Partner Award, and more -- see the entire list here.
Nomination forms are due to the Adult Development Department by Tuesday, January 31. Forms may be mailed, faxed, or delivered to council.

Girl Scouts unveil new program called Gamma Sigma GIrls
Southside Reporter, Wednesday, November 30 The scene could be viewed as what typically is found among many high school girls across the city. Hundreds of them chattered inside Fox Tech High School's auditorium waiting for guest speakers to begin. The girls had matching shirts with the letters "GS" emblazoned across the front. Some accessorized with jewelry, boots and hair bows. Read the entire story here.
