Anna with girlsGSUSA announced Wednesday, August 24 that our very own
Eagle 1, Anna Maria Chvez, has been appointed to the top post of the iconic organization. She is set to officially assume her new role at the Girl Scouts National Council Session/52nd Convention in November.

Board Chair, Jackie Gorman-Johnson commented, "This is a bittersweet day for us in Southwest Texas. We are fortunate to have benefited from Anna's visionary leadership and now look forward to watching how she will impact Girl Scouting on a, not only national, but global scale."

From newspaper articles to radio interviews to CNN, and more, this honorable news has spread far and wide, rapidly. Click on the links below to read just a few of the stories:

Special Commemoration on the
10th Anniversary of 9/11

The entire world changed 10 years ago when terrorists attacked our nation, and we lost thousands of American lives in New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania. To honor the lives that were lost and to honor those who continue to serve us by protecting our freedoms around the globe, everyone is invited to a special commemoration on the 10th Anniversary of what we all now know as 9/11.

GSSWT invites all its members, families, and friends to join the observance, which will be held at Alamo Plaza, on the morning of Sunday, September 11, from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. The commemoration is open to the public, and all are welcome. Read more here ...
