Full scholarships for GSLI now available for a limited time

On November 10-13, 2011, more than 1,200 girls from across the nation will gather in Houston, Texas for the 2011 National Girl Scout Leadership Institute (GSLI): Leadership and Innovation...the Next 100 Years.
GSLI is offered to currently registered Girl Scouts 13 and older as an integrated track within the national convention. GSLI will begin on Thursday morning and culminate on Sunday morning; activities include national convention opening ceremony Thursday evening, as well as other scheduled events. When scheduling permits, girl delegates are welcome to attend additional GSLI activities.
GSLI includes access to all dedicated GSLI sessions and celebration sessions -- sessions are workshop-based and run from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Limited full scholarships, based on qualification and need, are now available. Scholarship includes program cost, transportation, lodging, and meals.
If chosen, girls will leave San Antonio the afternoon of Wednesday, November 9 and return the evening of Sunday, November 13. Girls will participate in all designated group activities, travel to and from Houston together, and stay in the same hotel as the delegates.
Scholarship applications are due no later than 5:00 p.m., Monday, August 15. Girls will be notified Tuesday, August 16.

All Girls Invited to Join the 2011-2012 PR Team...

deadline to join is Monday, August 15!
Girls age 5-17 with bright personalities are needed to help represent our organization throughout its 21-county jurisdiction as part of the council's Public Relations (PR) Team. Are you interested in telling others in your community how great Girl Scouts is? If so, applications for the 2011-2012 PR Team will be accepted beginning July 15 through August 15. Current members of the PR Team do not need to re-apply (to check your PR Team status, contact Stephanie Finleon). Applicants for the PR Team should be articulate, outgoing, willing to be called with very short notice, and have access to transportation to and from events. Girls with musical talent (e.g., singing, piano, etc.) are also encouraged to apply. To apply, a parent/guardian must complete the 2011-2012 PR Team Application, available online through August 15. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered until the next membership year.  Following the application deadline, girls and their parent/guardian will be contacted for a short photo shoot and mock interview. Summer Hours
The Girl Scout Shop and Resource Center are still operating on summer hours through August 31:
- Monday-Wednesday -- 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
- Thursday -- 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
- Friday -- 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
- 2nd Saturday -- 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
The Shop will be open 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.Saturday, August 13.
School year hours will begin September 1!
