Welcome to the Volunteer Connection E-newsletter!

This special Volunteer Connection invites all members age 14 and older to apply to serve as a National Council delegate representing Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas at Girl Scouts of the USA's 52nd National Council Session and Convention next November.

Your Voice Counts!

Girl Scouts of the USA's National Convention brings together the diverse membership of the organization once every three years. The 52nd National Council Session and Convention will be held in nearby Houston November 10-13, 2011.

Girl Scouts will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2012.  In launching the next 100 years of Girl Scouts, both GSUSA and Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas will be engaged in the strategic learning process to develop the Core Business Strategy for the Girl Scout Movement. The National Council Session in 2011 plays a critical role in deciding the future of Girl Scouting and due to that, the board of directors for GSSWT has implemented an application process to select National Council delegates. The application allows members to highlight their skills and expertise in the important critical thinking competencies needed to actively engage in policy making.

All members of Girl Scouts, age 14 and above, are eligible to apply to serve as a National Council delegate. Elected National Council delegates will be involved in all aspects of the 52nd National Council Session and Convention and will have all travel and convention expenses paid for by GSSWT. Get more information here.

If you are interested in serving as a National Council delegate, please complete the application and return it to the Sally Cheever Girl Scout Leadership Center, Attn: Board Development Committee, no later than Tuesday, February 8, 2011.
