Happy Columbus Day Weekend! Great find, by the way, Columbus!

Did you ever notice how things that are familiar to you often give you an almost indescribable, comfortable feeling? It happens to me most often with friends, but also places and objects can give me that warm comforting sense. It is an emotion that is not necessarily overt, sometimes it just creeps up on you, but you know it when you feel it.

Last weekend I attended my college reunion and the celebration of 50 years of the school's rugby club. There was an alumni versus student game (no I did not even consider playing, I like the way my new ACL works just fine) and the sidelines were packed with generations of past players, friends, and families. There were lots of hugs and handshakes and many of us talked about how great it was to be together again even if only for a few hours. That familiar comfortable feeling was inescapable, and even more pronounced when a group of some of my favorite people all retreated to a friend's house with our families for an evening of relaxation and merriment.
