Ducati is an exciting company and their products are known to generate excitement. Imagine that the new 1199 Panigale Superbike is number one selling large displacement sportbike worldwide less than one year after it was first shown to the world. You will be seeing and hearing more about the Panigale and Ducati's racing efforts for next season soon.

 

At this point we are unable to reveal much about the bikes coming for the 2013 model year. There is a full embargo on the information until after Intermot, the international motorcycle show held in Cologne, Germany in October. Any information that can be discussed has already been released by Ducati to the public, for example: some of the modifications to the 2013 Multistrada. Please know that as soon as we are authorized to do so we will send out a summary of what is new for Ducati.

 

One of the great things about being a Ducati dealer is the camaraderie among fellow dealers. Truly, some of my favorite people in the world are other dealers. When we get together we have some fun, but also spend a significant amount of time talking shop. Basically, you get a pulse check from other people who are in the same industry doing what you do. You learn things, and you learn how some of your friends do things differently than you do. The time spent at these meetings is invaluable.

 

This year the meeting wrapped up with a dinner on the flight deck of the Midway, a decommissioned aircraft carrier that is now a naval museum docked in San Diego harbor. It was a beautiful evening, and having never been on an aircraft carrier before, fascinating to say the least. It was an unforgettable night, and a great dealer meeting.

 

Other things to report:

We focused on helmets in last week's newsletter, which generated excellent feedback, and we had many customers respond to our one day sale enjoying a new lid at a great price. This week we are highlighting another form of crash protection, the riding jacket. Jackets with crash protection are second only to helmets in the critical nature of the protection they provide. We have placed our fall orders and to make room for future stock, this Saturday you can take advantage of 20% or more off every riding jacket we have in stock. The only thing better than having a quality riding jacket is having one for less money!
