Last Sunday the weather was kind to us and we avoided the rain on our way down to the Larz Anderson Classic European Motorcycle Day. It was a quick and safe ride down after some coffee and doughnuts at the shop. We headed out with a smallish group of 12 bikes and one very hip dog. Man, do I wish I had a picture to share with you. The threat of rain seemed to keep away some people, because the attendance wasn't as high as usual, but the fantastic bikes on the infield provided us with plenty of great machines to look at and dream about. Plus, virtually everyone who attended is either into bikes or scooters. What a cool scene.
After checking out the bikes and hanging out with old and new friends our group split up and headed off in whatever direction taste and temperament dictated. Randy and I headed into the city, smack into a major traffic cluster as the result of a huge charity walk. We grabbed some lunch on Boylston Street, and headed back into the traffic mess. When we finally broke free onto Storrow Drive it was time to put some throttle to the bikes. The Monster 1100 EVO proved to be a worthy city mount, although I surprised myself once we got some space heading out of the city. That Monster touches three digits in third gear so effortlessly you don't even realize you are doing it. Whoa!
We had a visit from a longtime customer this week when he stopped in to say hello. We have sold him a couple of Triumphs over the years, and he is a serious rider and a minister. It is always a pleasure to see him, and I asked how many miles he had on his Triumph Bonneville America that was parked out front. "About 85," he replied.

I was astounded! I could not help but go outside to check out his odometer. 84,966 was the mileage displayed on his odometer. The pictures are here to tell the story, but this certainly indicates what is possible if you make time to ride and take care of your bike. Imagine how at one he must feel with his motorcycle, and imagine all the mental health he must have derived from riding it.

In the coming weeks you will hear the steady drum beat about our open house on October 13th. We have some unique fun things planned and are focusing the day on giving a little help to those less fortunate than we are. Plus on October 31st, Halloween, we will be drawing the lucky winner of a Zero electric motorcycle, you may just want to be here for that one too.
In the meantime, make the time to get out and ride. I am going to.
