With Labor Day behind us we are now cruising into the end of the summer, and we have the some of the best riding of the year to look forward to. This Sunday, September 9th, Great Bay has both a motorcycle ride and a local event we are participating in again this year.

First, the ride. We are heading down to the Larz Anderson Classic European Motorcycle Day in Brookline, MA. This has been a fun event that over the years has either been weather-cursed or bright, sunny and beautiful. The Larz Anderson Transportation Museum is a cool place, and when you add a bounty of classic European motorcycles it can be a motor enthusiasts' dream day. We will be meeting at the shop for the ride down on Sunday morning. Doughnuts and coffee start at 8:30 with a departure time of 9:15 a.m*. We would love to have you join us, check out the bikes and displays, and spin around for a return trip home. We plan to be back at the coast by 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

*Please note: Check the weather. The forecast is currently dicey. If it is raining, we will not be leading a ride down.

Second, Great Bay will be at The Portsmouth Criterium this Sunday. This event is an annual bike race that takes place in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire, starting at 11:00 a.m. Members of the GBMC team will be riding some of our demo machines to support the races, and we will also have a tent and display set up, including some of our Zero electric motorcycles. Be sure to stop by and say hello to Billy, or wave to Adam when he rides by! This is one event that transforms the town of Portsmouth for a few hours and should make for an interesting day downtown.

Also, mark you calendars for Saturday, October 13th, the day of our Fall Open House. We have a bunch of things planned for the day including some serious fun and games. To participate, we encourage you to bring canned food or dry goods for the Seacoast Family Food Pantry as a donation. Some of our best vendors are donating a variety raffle prizes, and all we ask is that you help some of our neediest area families by bringing what you can. Stay tuned for more news about this event.

Finally, in the get out and ride category. We had one of our long time customers stop in this past week. Over the years he has purchased several Triumphs and Ducatis from us. He was tanned, maybe even a bit sunburned, and he surely looked like he had been out on the road. He told me how much he loved his Multistrada 1200 and how he had just completed a quick ride back home, from the west coast! When he hit Colorado, where he planned to veer south and leave his bike in Texas, he said he just decided, why not cruise on home? So three days, a few stops, and lots of miles later he was back on the coast.

Now most of us aren't going to pull that off soon, but it sure reinforces how intoxicating a motorcycle combined with the road can be. No matter what you ride or how far you ride it two wheels are good for the soul. Enjoy your next ride!
