HAVE A GREAT, HAPPY AND SAFE LABOR DAY WEEKEND
Man, does time fly. We are all looking forward to a few days off with most of the rest of the US work force. It is funny how time off seems to go so quickly compared to the time we all spend working. Sooner or later though you won't work so much and you will have more time off. Time to do the things you love, even though time is still flying.
In some ways this perception of time is similar to accumulating miles on your motorcycle or scooter. Most of us feel we don't have enough time to ride, but one day we look down and the odometer has already crept above 1,000 miles. We feel as though we have barely ridden yet the odometer relentlessly marks the passing of time on our machines.
One of our fellow riders retired from the Massachusetts State Police a while back. After years of dedicated service to his state and community he now has more time to pursue his passion for riding. I saw him at the counter the other day, and he was excited to tell me about his experience with his well-equipped Triumph Thunderbird SE.

"Forty Four," he said loudly.
"What?" I replied.
"Forty Four thousand trouble free miles on my Thunderbird. According to the forums I may be the highest mileage Thunderbird out there, you should tell people," he stated.
I told him that I would, and asked if it was okay with him to highlight his experience in our newsletter. Clearly, he responded positively.
Imagine riding 44k in two years. Imagine having the passion for riding and the time to enjoy the road so thoroughly. With a little luck and a bunch of hard work, many of us will someday be able to immerse ourselves even deeper in our passions.
So enjoy whatever time off you have off this Labor Day weekend. The weekend is dedicated to recognizing how hard we all work as part of the American labor force, and offers us an extra day off towards the end of the summer to relax.
