4 Reasons why YOU will want to be involved in Tango Tales

1. To dramatically improve your improvised social style tango skills.

2. To challenge yourself to learn and perform a choreographed tango. (not required)

3. To share the magic of tango with your family and friends.

4. To be part of a community building experience with people who share a common passion for Argentine tango.

Improve Your Social Style Tango

You will work hard to improve your improvisation. Students will improvise to 3 "tandas" consisting of 2 tangos, 2 valses & 2 milongas with "Cumparsita" as the final tango. Students will improvise these dances with fellow student participants. You may end up dancing one, two or three of the tandas, depending on the number of people who wish to be involved and the ratio of leaders to followers. The music used and the partners danced with will be chosen in advance and well rehearsed even though the actual dance will be improvised.

Beginning this September 2011 and continuing through mid February 2012 (almost 6 months) Wednesday night group classes will focus on building a strong social style base for all students. Those involved in the production will also receive extra coaching and personal follow up sessions to encourage a high level of confidence on the dance floor.

Learn & Perform a Choreography

The event will feature students who wish to learn and perform a choreography. Your tango will grow in developing, with assistance from Debbie, choreography appropriate to, but stretching, your dance level. Debbie will work with couples on an individual basis in a private class setting.* (You will need to find your own partner for this venture. Ask your fellow students or other tango dancers if they are interested in partnering with you). An audition will be held during the development of the choreography, and there will be a standard to achieve in order to perform in the choreographic section of the show.

*This option is based on discounted private sessions at $50/hour (regular rate is $75). The number of sessions required depends on your progress. Classes should be scheduled starting in September to give enough time to be ready for December auditions.

Share the Magic of Tango with Family and Friends

Inspire your family, friends and co-workers. They will finally be able to see you dance the tango! Tickets will be available to friends and family as well as local tangueros and the general public who is interested in finding out about Argentine Tango. The event will take place at the San Anselmo Playhouse with 2-3 performances. (Fri-Sun) The final performance will conclude with a Milonga/Cast Party.

Be part of a community building experience with people who share a common passion for Argentine Tango

The event is a fun community building experience. Those interested in being a part will be able to share their creative talents not just by dancing but also by being part of the production crew from conception (September 2011) to completion (February 2012). We have always been amazed to see how a small amount of time and effort from each person results in such creative and powerful results. The end product is pure excitement and FUN!!!!!
