Oh No! Ah-Ha!  Oh No! Ah-Ha!

April 24 - Easter 2011

Being jerked around by life can be hard to take. Sometimes the Oh No's are overwhelming. They are usually unexpected, and considered devastating beyond repair.  People give up - on themselves, on others and on God.  But Easter is the ultimate Ah-Ha! moment.

If you are struggling with some Oh No's in your life - and who isn't - don't miss GFC's celebration of the resurrection of Christ on Sunday, April 24!

There will be three services:  7:30 (no childcare provided)  9:00 and 10:45 am

You just might have an Ah-Ha moment that will change your life!

Rise and Shine - Easter Service for Elementary Students

Rise and Shine!

This Easter Sunday we are designing a special worship environment for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. The students of GFC Kids' Horizons will Rise and Shine in the East Auditorium during both worship services at 9 and 10:45. The morning will be filled with engaging worship, hands on activities, and an interactive retelling of the story that changed history.

During the month of April, we will be talking about the virtue of Humility, which means putting others first by giving up what you think

you deserve. There truly is no better example of humility than Christ's sacrifice in the Easter story, so we want to help each elementary student experience the sacrifice and love of our Risen King in a meaningful way this Easter Sunday. If you would like to be involved with this special experience designed for our elementary students or have any questions feel free to contact Katy Fox at KFox@gracejohnsoncity.com.

Lifelong Learning lives up to its name for 200 GFCers!

If you were one of those who participated in the most recent Lifelong Learning Event with Dr. Jody Dillow, you are likely still learning!  A study of eternal security and the final destiny of man is such a pervasive teaching of Scripture that it takes a life time to begin the grasp the wonderful and exciting reality.  Read more.

Reaching a Community
EPIC Night of Worship

On March 2, Grace Student Ministries sponsored a unique night of worship called "BAHT."  Students discovered the atrocities of human sex trafficking through experiential elements designed to increase awareness and change attitudes towards this global problem.  Staff, leaders, and students built walls around the room where students had written words like "slavery" and "bondage," reminding participators of the necessity to react against this injustice.  Throughout the night, students blotted out these words by dipping their hands in red paint and placing them directly on top of the words. They also wrote prayers and scriptures on these walls.

Love can't be Baht

The title, "Baht" originates from the Thai currency and represents the monetary way that humans are often "bought." The worship culminated with visual crosses that reminded students that everyone has already been bought through the blood of Christ.

Student Anna Tolan and several other senior girls were integral in planning this event.  The event contained a production team of 23 people along with over 40 total volunteers.  The service raised $2268.05 in support of an organization called "Not For Sale," which buys women out of slavery and trains them in ways where they can survive on their own.

Storytime Training

God is telling a story, and we've been invited to participate in that story....the story of God!

'Storytime' was the title of the February 13th Outreach Training for people in the GFC family desiring to more effectively serve the least and reach the lost.  Grace Outreach Pastor Larry Nees and Outreach Staff Larry Stamm led 35 people in this fast-paced 75-minute training session over lunch immediately following the 2nd service.
