Greetings!
Welcome to our Spring Edition!
I have so many things for which I am thankful. I've been able to spend Easter with my beautiful grand baby, which always refreshes me and lets me 'see' things renewed and with a baby's fresh perspective.
Since the last issue we lost our mom and with a heavy heart my family and I said our goodbyes. I'd like to dedicate this e-zine to my mom, Maureen E. McBride-Maxwell. She is in a place to watch over us from a better seat.
My Garden - Mom's favorite
place to visit in May & June.
This month I'd like to talk about something I feel is so important that I offer it as a service.
"FRESH PERSPECTIVE" is something from which everyone will benefit! The following article will explain the importance of Fresh Perspective in both our personal and professional lives.
Filled with Gratitude.

FRESH PERSPECTIVE
Really 'seeing' another view... of yourself
How often do you look in the mirror?
Do you really see yourself, or do you just look at your image?
I've often wanted to be a fly on the wall for different gatherings. That's a phrase I've heard many say over the years. What if you actually could be a fly on the wall? What would you think about yourself, if you were watching yourself after you've given your speech or traded business cards with someone?
Since you are you and while in the midst of being you its hard to be "aware" of what signals you are giving off. One of the reasons I video tape myself while giving workshops or speeches is to learn more about myself; to see your perspective of me. Often other presenters will be horrified thinking I might tape them, but they have it all wrong - that's exactly who needs to 'see' themselves from another's view. It's such a great learning tool.
Here is a recent example: I recently attended an event as a guest and while I waited for my turn to give my elevator speech I gave my attention to each person before me, with eye contact and really listening. However, the woman to my right finished her long commercial and as I was talking she started passing the salad dressing and the bread basket right in front of me - literally blocking my face and eye contact from those giving me their attention - she even asked me to pass things. Even later when the speaker was giving her talk this same guest, who was obviously disinterested, began checking her Blackberry for emails! She never turned her whole body towards the speaker and never gave her any of her attention. The worst part was she never even noticed what she was doing and if she were to read this article she wouldn't even realize it was about her! Now, had she been a fly on the wall watching herself she would have been horrified of her behavior. I know I was. This guest told me everything I needed to know about her, not during her elevator speech but by her body language and lack of attention to others.
I learn more about the women I want to get to know or do business with before and after they do their elevator, I watch how they treat others, how much they pay attention to speakers and more attention to their body language than what they actually say.
Many years ago when I was managing in retail we had training sessions to best understand human nature, the signals people give once they are ready to buy, how to overcome objections and watching body language. Recently I've begun a personal campaign to delve into that fascinating subject even more. The new TV show 'Lie to Me' ties perfectly into my renewed interest. Body language is very subtle yet very powerful and can be used to our advantage when giving a presentation.
Learning my own body language while video taping myself has been eye opening. You too might want some input into what 'Indelible Impression' you are projecting. Take the time this month to really 'see' yourself - you are, after all, the most important relationship you have throughout your entire life and worth another 'look'. |

What's Hot for Spring and is it Hot on you?
Just because it's in every magazine and at every store - doesn't mean it's right for everyone ...
Even though I can't personally wear all of my favorite Spring trends, I still want to share them with you. Not sure if these trends will work for you? Not sure how to best work these trends into your wardrobe? Call your favorite Image Consultant ( be sure to see the special recession priced offer at the end of this e-zine for great savings!)
BOLD & BRIGHT
Citrus, Turquoise and Lemon are in, just be sure you choose the colors and shades that flatter your skin tone. This is where many go wrong. For example, I like blue but certain shades of blue drain me and the right shade enhances me and makes me look refreshed and energized. This step also saves me lots of time shopping: I pull out my wallet-sized color cards and hold them up to anything I'm considering buying. If it blends its a keeper, if it stands away I know I can pass on it.
DRAMATIC SHAPES & CUTS
Romance is always in, especially this season. Think tailored and elegant, like this sashed, full-skirted dress which has my favorite detail of a portrait collar and just enough lace without going overboard.
FLOWER POWER & HOT PINK
With floral being so hot this season I wanted to demonstrate easy and inexpensive to add a touch without overdoing it.
I, for one, do not have the figure for nor does my personal style put me into a complete floral dress. Certainly that is my choice but instead, I add either a silk flower or these fun floral shoes, (which are pink - another seasonal trend), so I can stay current without sacrificing.
METALLICS - a little goes a long way... Silver is best next to 'cool' skintones and gold next to 'warm' tones. Not sure where you fit in with your Power Colors? Call for a Color Analysis using a tried and true system called Gemstones, developed by a color expert. Following your Color Analysis you will receive free, wallet-sized color cards to save money when shopping this Spring.
ANIMAL GLAM,
back again...
Safari Chic has staying power and when used in just the right amount can be the perfect compliment, while making you memorable for the right reasons. I'm more of a traditionalist and love black and white. When teamed with animal print details like a bracelet, belt, purse, scarf or shoe (never all at the same time!) it puts the outfit in the hall of fame. A touch of sophistication that leaves a lasting impression.

Celebrity Spotlight:
What is your 'Indelible Impression' worth to you?
Camryn Manheim - She's a well-known actress, currently in the "Ghost Whisperer." I'd like to use photos of Camryn as examples of what I commonly see many fuller figure women do. The goal isn't to pick her apart but to demonstrate how just tweaking color, fabric, proportion and fit can make all the difference in a flattering image that honors your figure vs. an unflattering one that fills you with regret.
Photo#1 - Knit isn't Camryn's friend. This sweater over a cami doesn't flatter her on any level. It brings more attention to her fuller upper arms, pushing the sleeves up only adds more bulk at her hips. Additionally, both her bust and her waist are blended with no definition. This style also makes her look heavier than in reality. The boring mustard color washes her out and even makes her look tired and older than her age. When a woman has a fuller face its best to have a softer hair style that will look fresher and more feminine; the straight, severe long hair does absolutely nothing for her.
Photo #2 - I like the look of ponchos but have rarely seen anyone actually look good in them. Plus, this stretching knit, peek-a-boo style is all wrong for Camryn's figure. Also, better support is required for a fuller bust. The skinny cami straps demonstrates improper support, so her "girls" are not sitting where they would be more balanced. At least she has a more flattering color near her face. Although the same unflattering hairstyle is seen here.
Photo #3 - This isn't all wrong but it has room for improvement. Here, the cut of Camryn's blouse is much better. This collared top, with the V-opening gives her a straight line and the tie is at the narrowest area creating a waist. The butterfly necklace draws focus to her face - longer beads would be good too in multi-colors for a fun look. So what's wrong? The print is too large for her proportions but I'm glad to see her in color! A watercolored blurry print would look better for her and choosing a print no larger than her fist would be best. The longer length of the top shortens her torso and creates an unbalanced look. Note here, Camryn again chose a black cami, however a brighter tank or shell would have been a better choice.
Photo #4 - Here is the most common mistake I see for all figures. The unstructured clingy knit, pushed-up sleeves, and ditto the comments from above. The narrowing from the knees down leaves her unbalanced. Again the black cami - need I say more about the lack of support? Boring shoes and severe hair. Here, Camryn looks like dozens of women I see at networking events in Northeast Ohio. Nothing to make her stand out, nothing fresh nor interesting.
