Who's in the Spotlight?
Each month we feature someone "in the spotlight." This month -- OPRAH.
Now we all know Oprah has struggled with her weight - I think she's beautiful at every weight. I would say she mostly always dresses her figure perfectly, but sometimes even celebrities who pay professionals to make them look good can have a not-so-great outfit.
Photo#2 is well balanced and is a great color tone on her. The jacket falls at a flattering point and cinches her waist. Plus Oprah knows how to play-up her assets; her bust of course!
Photo #3 where again her assets are front and center. She is wearing a print in the most flattering way with attention being drawn to the smallest part of her waist. We think her make-up is perfect in #2 & #3, but in #1 her lipstick is a bit too dark.
Tell us what you think! Do you have someone you would like us to review? Send some photos or give us celebrity names you want to see in this newsletter. |
Dressing a Fuller Figure...
Using the right proportions is the key.
Its not as hard as you've been making it!
Fall Fashions for everyone...Tee's must have gems for any figure...
VESTS: This is the perfect element for layering, plus the bonus is you can use this item to define your waist - celebrate those curves! Now by layering I don't mean adding bulk - avoid the quilted 'puff' vest coat and a thick sweater, I've seen this mistake made more than I care to remember. Yes, I know it gets cold in N.E Ohio but you can be warm, be stylish, and enhance your figure all at the same time. Notice the more updated version by wearing your blouse or t-shirt peaking out under the vest. This is not the 70's when everything was tucked in. (Yes, I know vests were hot in the late 70's. I was in high school then and for Christmas I just had to have the hot trend of a matching ultra suede vest and gauchos with a tucked in polyester blouse. Boy, I was styling in a size 9/10 - aahh, the good old days!)
JACKETS: This one item can take jeans and a tee-shirt to Chic and pulled them together. Now here is a lady (below) embracing her curves and showing them off in an appropriate way. I've been sporting a version of this look in my day-to-day travels out and about. Just adding a jacket to a printed or solid tee takes it up several notches. Where the jacket hits you, especially with a fuller figure, is important. Keeping the fuller arms in mind when shopping for the most flattering cut and fit is the key to pulling it off and projecting a polished, confident yet casual look.
GRAPHIC TEES: Done right, can look casual yet classy. Recently my sister thought I made a faux-pas when she saw me in a graphic tee. But when done properly, in the right proportions and textures, it can look age appropriate and chic.
BOOTS: Finding the right style for your figure and wearing it in proportion is the key. I can't wear the tall boots with the high skinny heels - I've come to terms with that. I need an ankle boot with a pointed or square toe and a substantial heel to feel secure and comfortable. If your rounder like me, avoid putting anything round on your body - add some straight lines. Ankle boots are great with most all of my Fall wardrobe, cords, jeans, even a dressier wool slack.
PATENT LEATHER: Whether its in a purse, shoe or a boot - jazz your look up with a detail from a 'trend'. I'm personally not a slave to trends, I like classics. But just like painting your living room a neutral color and buying neutral tones for your furniture you can add that 'pop' of the trendy, hot, new color in your accessories like pillows and area rugs. This can be achieved in your Fall/Winter wardrobe, as well. Patent leather is a fun way to add a pop of color - just don't over do it. My advice would be to avoid using more than two patent leather items at a time. Less is more ladies, whether you're dressing your body or decorating a room in your house.
My Fall purchase is a purple patent leather purse, not a huge oversized one (unless your tall and slim enough to carry it off), I stick to medium sized and square or rectangle to off-set my curves. The purple purse below is a little too big for my figure and height but I found a perfectly proportioned rectangle version at TJ Maxx & More. I love it!

Personal and Professional Service you Deserve
In this trying real estate market it's important to work with a professional that understands the market and is willing to negotiate on your behalf. If you're looking to buy a home, it's key that you have the proper information to make an educated offer. If you're thinking of selling, knowing the right things to do to get your home in the best marketable condition could mean the difference between selling or lingering then not selling in today's buyers market.
