"Highflying Fun" with the Girl Scouts at the Nebraska State Fair

Greetings!

Join us at the State Fair! In honor of our 100th anniversary, Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska is participating in the Nebraska State Fair this year! We have partnered with the Strategic Air and Space Museum for a cool (literally!) and interactive booth based on the State Fair theme, "Highflying Fun."

The State Fair is held in Grand Island and runs Friday, August 24 through Monday, September 3, 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Our booth, located in the air-conditioned 4-H Building, will have interactive features and activities, giveaways, treats and a special commemorative Year of the Girl fun patch for purchase.

Can Your Troop Help?

We need volunteers for the Girl Scout booth. If you or your girls volunteer for a 4-hour shift on any night or either weekend, you get into the fair for FREE that day! It is a great way to give back, see the fair and save money all at the same time. We ask that girls wear a Girl Scout uniform piece (tunic, vest or sash) and adults wear anything "Girl Scout" while working the booth.

Our activities will help you work toward earned badges. Stop by to have some fun and find out which Girl Scout badge you can work on.

The Nebraska State Fair is honoring Girl Scouts on their 100th Anniversary. Come watch the opening ceremony at 4:00 p.m. with Governor Dave Heineman, followed by the parade at 5:00 p.m. Cheer on your sister Girl Scouts!

Fried Girl Scout Cookies

Yes, you heard us right, there will be a vendor on the midway selling fried Girl Scout Cookies! Caramel deLites, Thin Mints and Peanut Butter Patties are good...but when you dip 'em and fry 'em...YEOWWW YUMMM!

NPA Public Power Booth

While you are there, you can also join NPA for their special Scout day at their "Public Power Booth" on Sunday, August 26 from noon until 3:00 p.m. Activities will engage Girl Scouts and visitors of all ages in a variety of hands on, interactive science activities that support the requirements for the "Get Moving" Leadership Journey as well as other science and conservation related badges.
