Pumpkin Time!
 
The Halloween season is approaching and it is a perfect time to visit the Bellevue Berry and Pumpkin Ranch. There is so much to do from picking apples, pumpkins and raspberries to having a campfire with your Girl Scout troop. Explore the huge corn maze (free with entry) and a vast pirate ship. In addition, you can take a hayrack ride through the decorated woods, explore the pirate caves, enjoy the large play area, take the haunted walk and so much more. Mrs. Hesselbein, service as the CEO Girl Scouts of the USA from 1976 to 1990.  During her tenure, Mrs. Hesselbein pioneered cultural diversity among the non-profit's staff, volunteers, and girl members to make Girl Scouts one of the best managed organizations of its time. Mrs. Hesselbein received one of the highest civilian awards, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in 1988, and obtained 20 honorary doctoral degrees throughout her career.

Stacy Cordery is a professor of History at Monmouth College, in Monmouth, Illinois, and the author of the New York Times notable non-fiction book Alice: Alice Roosevelt Longworth, from White House Princess to Washington Power Broker. Cordery is also the bibliographer for the National First Ladies Library. Like her mother and grandmother before her, she was, of course, a Girl Scout!
