Happy New Year Girl Scouts!
Greetings!
A brand new year is upon us and it blew in with a whoo whoo, as we presented our very first statewide program - The Union Pacific Girl Scout Cookie Trains. What a hit! The train cars were so imaginative; the media loved it and everyone who came had a great time. Congratulations to everyone who participated. Let's continue to show our Spirit of Nebraska as we Go Places with the Cookie Program. We are all busy gearing up for new programs, new trainings, more statewide events and, of course, it's cookie time! It is our continued hope that this e-news letter will serve as a resource as you work with your girls and troops. Please take a moment to scan the stories and links below to find valuable information that will enhance your Girl Scout experience. We are all working together to make the world a better place. |
First Statewide Cookie Program Begins

Maybe you have seen the billboards, newspaper ads or one of the many commercials running on television stations all across the state! Planning and implementing a statewide campaign for cookies has been a labor of love, but it takes all of us to keep the love alive. Please visit the cookie page on our website for a press release and cookie ad. If you have connections out there in the world of media, or someone can place a print ad for us at no charge, please forward. If you need help with any of your publicity ideas or have questions, contact Theresa at tcassaday@girlscoutsnebraska.org. We hope that all of this added exposure gives the girls a little boost while they work to fulfill their Cookie Program goals. Go Girl Scouts! The Union Pacific Girl Scout Cookie Train Rides the Rails of Success

We kicked off the 2009 Girl Scout Cookie program with SIX Union Pacific Girl Scout Cookie Trains all across the state and it was a trainload of excitement. The media came out in full force to help our girls get fired up about their Cookie Program. We are going places, there is no doubt. The Union Pacific Girl Scout Cookie Trains are still on display (with the exception of Norfolk), so if you can, go and see the best and brightest (and amazingly creative side) of Girl Scouts. Thank you to all the girls and troops who participated, the staff and volunteers who make every Girl Scout event a success, and Union Pacific for being our proud sponsor. In case you missed it, there is a special Union Pacific Girl Scout Cookie Train fun patch. You will find them at your local service center's Juliette's Boutique. And while you're there, you won't want to miss out on the cool, new Cookie T-shirts for 2009. Get 'em while they are hot (and yummy). Here are the locations and the winners from each area, to see a photo gallery, please click here and use the password cookietrain. artVenture There's Still Room for Girl Artists! If you know a girl who wants to explore her creative side, don't let her miss this opportunity to participate in artVenture. Girls, Brownie level and older, will be matched up with a local artist to work on a collaborative art project. Working with artists in their studios, girls learn how art projects are created from conception to completion. Girls will complete art projects to donate to artVenture, a silent auction that benefits Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska. There is still space for girls in the Homestead, Goldenrod, Prairie Hills and Guiding Star service areas. Girl-artist collaborations will take place in January and February. NOTE: Great Plains Service Area collaborations are full. Every effort will be made to match a girl to an artist in her top three mediums of choice. Matches will be made on a first come, first served basis; thus matches are not guaranteed. Complete the application on our website and send your applications to your nearest service center:
