We are Going Places!

Greetings!

Greetings Girl Scouts in Nebraska (and Carter Lake, Iowa).  By now you have probably received your 2008 Fall Program Book.  It is packed with information about upcoming programs throughout the state and beyond.  Take some time and have fun planning your next adventure with your girls.  Remember that every program is open to every girl, regardless of where that program is taking place.  Nebraska is a beautiful state, especially this time of year, so get out and explore!

If you didn't receive your book in the mail, please contact your service center (listing to the left) and one will be mailed to you.

Look for your next program book coming in mid-December with more programs for winter and spring.

Also keep your eyes on your e-mail for the Spirit of Nebraska e-newsletter each month.

From Your Friends in Fund Development

Stay Connected to Girl Scouts
Since 1912, millions of women have had their lives transformed by their Girl Scout experience.  If you are one of the 50 million women who was a Girl Scout, a volunteer or staff member chances are you have a great story to tell.
Stay connected to Girl Scouting through the Girl Scouts Alumni Circle.  If you are an alumnus please let us know by contacting our office at 877-447-5558 x238 or email: info@girlscoutsnebraska.org.  Share with us your past involvement, plus any additional contact information we may not have.  Also, reach out to your friends and family and encourage them to register as a Girl Scout Alumni as well.

Family Partnership
GIRL SCOUTS SPIRIT OF NEBRASKA NEEDS YOUR HELP!  Our cookie program, shop sales and program fees cover only a portion of the actual cost of operating our 25,000 member organization.  It is crucial that we receive additional support from individuals and families like you, who believe in and support the efforts of our now statewide council.  Please consider giving a gift that is meaningful to you. Your contribution will stay in our council and will directly support Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska.
For more information, or to make your annual gift, please contact Melissa Murante at 877.447.5558 x206 or mmurante@girlscoutsnebraska.org.

Statewide Training Update

Please visit our website and the Adult Training page to preview our statewide training schedule. Leaders must register for training a minimum of five days prior to the training date. Registration deadlines are noted on the schedule. Leaders are to register with Trish Streur, training registrar, at the Great Plains Service Center. You may contact her at 1.877.447.5558 x221 or email: psteur@girlscoutsnebraska.org.

In-person training remains the best training option for our leaders. However, if schedules do not allow leaders to attend an in-person training, the online and self-study trainings are alternatives.  See website for more details.

Specialty trainings such as: Outdoor, CPR/FA, Leader In Training (LIT), and Program Aide will be scheduled by request with Janice Donoghue at jdonoghue@girlscoutsnebraska.org.

The process to create a new and consistent statewide training package will begin very soon! An initial draft will be ready by April 1, 2009, with pilot testing occurring through August 2009. By this time next year, we plan to showcase new leader training via in-person, webinar, online, and self-study options!
