Here in New England, it is the holiday season for people of many faiths and traditions.  We are blessed to be located in Boston with its vast network of colleges and universities that attract people from all over the world.  The result is a rich and diverse culture of communication, understanding, and tolerance.  Here at BSML, we are dedicated to fostering the mutual understanding of people from all walks of life.

In that spirit, we would like to wish all of you the very best during this holiday season and we hope you have a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

BSML Students Attend Media Conference
media
On November 4th, five BSML students, accompanied by their teacher, Sandra Robinson, attended the Media Matters Writing Conference for Students and Teachers. This annual event is sponsored by The Boston Globe and The University of Massachusetts. While the majority of the participants are American students, Sandra was able to get permission for our international students to attend and has been taking groups to the conference for several years.

The purpose of the conference is to interest students in reading, writing, and journalism. Among the many topics BSML students learned about were investigative reporting, script writing, ethnic media, and photojournalism. The students were very enthusiastic about the conference. Isabel Porto from Venezuela commented that it helped her to realize the area of marketing which she wants to focus on.

As a follow-up activity, each of the five students gave a presentation on their conference experience at a teachers' meeting.
